My 10 year old son has been begging to catch an aggie game this season, and this friday will be our best and only chance to pull it off. The cost of all the standard seating is not a pill we are going to swallow, but i can pull a couple hundred per ticket for GA. Can anyone give me a quick rundown on what that will be like with a 10 year old (he is tough as nails, fortunately) and expected heat / rain?

I would be in line 2 hours before first pitch. Gates open 90 minutes before. Try to get in the space in front of the third base bleachers, you'll have some pre-game access to players and it's the only part of the lawn that's going to get any chance of shade for a noon game. It's going to be hot and sunny but towards the end of the game, you should be in shade. You've got a good chance of breeze out there too.

Weatherwise, there's a 30% chance of scattered showers for the area so who knows where they might fall. Wind is supposed to be out of the SE at 10-15.

Correct, lawn access is through the main gates just like all seats other than Sec 12.

I think I just found 3 which is what I was looking for, added a friend to bring with us.

Y'all are going to have a fantastic time. We took our 3 plus several cousins back when they were young. Just make sure you have sunscreen, caps and plenty of water. I miss those days.

trouble mentioned it, but the 3rd base lawn is the place to be. My son and I went to the first Sat game vs. Georgia and had a blast.

Positives
You will be directly in front of players. Many of them will do autographs prior to the game,
Great view
Some shade near the end of the game, nearing 2:30
Show up early and you can get a spot leaning against the bleachers

Negatives
It will be hot, but not going to dodge the heat
The Spinx of Police will be watching you like a hawk. Stand up and celebrate all you want, but the moment the batter is at bat, you better be seated or be prepared to feel the wrath of the hawk!

You can bring in a cold gallon of water per person, do it. Don't buy the horribly overpriced water at Olsen; on your own for food at concessions, but the preztel wrapped sausage is pretty good.


My 9 and 6 year old have been going since they were babies and love it, as do Trouble's kids. Sitting in the grass is a bit different, but still fun. Bring a blanket big enough for y'all but not twice the size you need.

and make sure the water is sealed. Also, no umbrellas in Olsen.

Water isn't nearly as overpriced as soda though. The large is $5, small $3

At least you get unlimited refills.

I wouldn't take that as gospel. Was stopped the other day for bringing something in that is explicitly allowed by this list.

That sucks. I'm pretty sure the guy who checks Malcolm's bag every game doesn't look at anything. Not that he's trying to sneak anything in

Times have changed.

A certain staff member on TA would bring in a fountain drink to every game under a small blanket. It could be 95F, and he had his blanket with drink. No one cared, no one really checked. It was a good system.
