Yes, but if the other members of the committee respect him, they will look out for him. If he's a worthless piece of ****, they will screw his team over.

Arizona? Currently RPI #31, has there ever been a host that low on selection day? That's borderline 2/3 seed area. And 3-9 vs Q1 opponents. What am I missing here?

Would not be surprised to see the sips sent to Tucson as the 2 seed now.

Understood. But does the possibility of the same situation as last year happening again possibly deter the committee from awarding ISU a regional if it's a coin flip decision with another team, i.e. Arizona?

This is what I've been saying. They'll try to give sip the cushiest route to the supers possible

That route does not go through College Station

LSU would be the obvious choice for Tuscon, given the committee's love of storylines. I still say the sips look good for Santa Barbara. That's their kind of people, too.

A tacit acknowledgement that the RPI's credibility has been undermined by the ridiculous away game bonuses for northern teams.

UCLA hosted in 2011 with an RPI of 34. Once again, an acknowledgement of the weakness of the RPI formula as applied to geographically distant teams.

just for fun...in hopes of playing new teams and such...

A&M has never played Virginia, East Carolina, or N.C. State

the Ags have played UCSB before in the Corvallis regional (2013). The Gauchos have never been to College Station.

A&M has a long history with Arizona and of course Oklahoma State. Oregon State has been to Olsen Field twice

Yes. They weren't really even in question for hosting. They have some dang good series wins with I believe sweeps of Clemson and Wake along with a series win over Virginia.
