Game 1: Lamkin
Game 2: Prager
Game 3: Sdao
If necessary Game 4: Jones

That would be my regional rotation

Also, it depends on who Schloss wants to pitch against Texas in game 2 of the regional.
You misspelled "Lamar." Texas will be in the elimination game by then.
And YOU misspelled tu. You been outa Texas too long. When were you here last anyway?

Game 1 against a non-b12 opponent sounds exactly like the type of game Texas will lose. Might not see them until game 3, assuming they don't lose two just to avoid playing us.

A month ago, I would have thought this as well. However, they're playing well right now and have a shot to improve their standing this week.

I wonder if he'll follow the schedule like in 2022 - we play the first game then then night game on the second day.

Schloss has day one to decide if he wants to play the first or second game....and I think he will take the first game. Day two's game time is dictated by whether you win or lose game one.

Also, now that regional and supers are televised, ESPN probably has some say so on at what times teams play.

On paper this is probably what you want to do, but match ups matter. It might make sense to use Tanner or Cortez if we face a team who excels vs LHP. Or someone who is poor vs high velo (Cortez).

Prager then Asch to secure Game 1

I wouldn't mind seeing Cortez get another start if the right scenario. His control has been much better than last year's, but don't see him getting enough credit for it.

I think he'd start a game 5 if we found our way into the loser's bracket

Definitely not Prager.

In a regional format, game two is always the most important game because you're either playing to get to the championship if you won game one or you're playing an elimination game if you lost game one.

100% agree. Lamkin or Sdao opens up in Hoover and in the regional with Prager pitching game 2 in both

Not Prager is certainly my preferred path as well, but I don't think we can say definitely not Prager until we know the matchups. Some of the 4 seeds are going to have 1 guy that is a legit ace. What they typically lack is pitching depth.

You have to see which 3 teams are coming, what the matchups look like and then make the call.

Since I have absolutely zero influence on the decisions, I suppose I can say it definitely is not up to me!

That being said, Schloss has historically thrown his ace in game 2.

I'm pretty confident that we will not see Prager unless we make it to Thursday. Seems like Coach Schloss talked about this but I've slept since then.

100%. He said it on TA radio today (think it was recorded yesterday). He'll throw Thursday on normal rest and get more than a week to recover for Regionals. No be pushed hard (throw 100 pitches).

Yeah, but that's the tourney, not Regionals... I think Lance was asking about game 1 in the Regional

I mean, the title of the post is "Regional Game 1 Starter" so I'd say that's a fair assumption.

I agree. Was just curious about the tourney talk in case I was missing something

In addition to the four-seed's starting pitcher and matchups, another consideration is weather. If Day 2 or later weather pushes the tournament by even a day, your Day 1 starter can pitch again Tuesday. In that case you may want your Ace on the mound Day 1.

What the 2 v 3 teams do on the mound in game 1 could also play a role in the decision as long as you make them play first. Then you make them commit before you show your cards and can adjust based on who they pitch and who they have left. Only advantage of playing first is extra 5-7 hours of rest for the starter. That wouldn't be enough for me as it means my pitcher would be playing in 100 degree heat and need the extra seven hours!
