Georgia is playing a home game on Wednesday after playing a neutral site game on Tuesday.
Kentucky is playing a road game on Wednesday after play a home game on Tuesday.
Last week Florida played at home after playing a road game on Tuesday, and did the same the week before.

Texas Southern is 4-9 with two of their Ws coming against NAIA Wiley University. I suspect most of the regulars will be sitting on Wednesday.

Why not last 2 weeks?
Why the third week?
Do we do this every year?

Does coach know we can't drink on 2 school nights during the week? Somebody think of the children.

Schloss wants to play some guys that get less reps. Great for development.

It is common to have at least one midweek in which two games are played. The third midweek last season we played two games: Home against UIW, Away at Rice.

It is early but the Gators are having midweek troubles again, down 5-1 to Central Florida.

Down goes Florida 9-6. They deserve to drop in the rankings. Too many bad losses to be #4 in the country.

Yep. At this point in the season they look to have little pitching depth.

LSU was down to the last strike against Southeastern in Hammond tonight, but fought back to win 4-3. I'm very pleased with where this LSU team is right now. This looks to be an Omaha-caliber team, despite losing some irreplaceable talents from last season. Some freshmen are already making big contributions.

As crazy as it sounds, this LSU team seems to have more depth than the 2023 team, especially on the mound. There's no Paul Skenes, who is an android, but we seem to have 4 legit weekend starters and another 8 or so reliable bullpen arms. I'm very happy with Yeskie, so far. This staff gets a ton of strikeouts and many guys seem to have improved from last year.

A&M, Arkansas, and LSU seem to be the best teams in the SEC right now, but it'll be a dogfight for the title between a bunch of teams. I could easily see this being a year where the conference champion has less than 20 wins, which last happened in 2011 or 2012, IIRC.

Well, Tim Corbin has been coaching for a long time and he's really good at it. So he's won 1000 games. He's also done a lot for the sport to get it to where it is today and in developing players careers. So, when someone hits a large milestone, for instance, 1,000 career wins, it's a nice thing to celebrate.

and the video his wife made was super cute.

I can remember how Vanderbilt was before Tim Corbin. They were the team you were disappointed you didn't sweep or didn't have on the schedule in a given year.

He took over a dead program and quickly built them into a powerhouse with scary pitching. Their 2007 team with David Price and Pedro Alvarez was one of their best teams ever, despite not making it to Omaha. They certainly have an advantage being an elite private school that recruits nationally, but Tim Corbin still had to build that from nothing. When he took over, there was no reason for that kind of recruit to choose Vandy over a school like Stanford or even Rice.

The question will be whether or not the school continues to invest in the baseball program after he retires, or if they'll gradually decline like USC and Rice have. Hopefully, their recent renovations indicate they are serious about baseball long-term.

Good points. I'm really surprised Rice hasn't been able to get back to being good.

Side note - One of Texags longtime posters, GEA89, does the PA for all Rice home baseball games. Fun side hustle!

I wouldn't sleep on Bama this year. It'll be interesting to see how good their team really is when conference play starts.

Don't say that man. A good friend of mine's son is a pitcher for Florida. His Dad went to Bleyl and Cypress Creek High school in Houston.

yep, and I'd be able to make a pretty good argument that Tim Corbin and David Price made huge strides in correcting the Augie stereotype/culture that you only go to college if you aren't good enough for pro and that college is detrimental to your career. They did a ton to get us to where the first round of the draft is as many college as high school players.

I dont think I've ever heard anyone say a bad word about Corbin (and I hope I'm never corrected)

Here are some bad words about Corbin: HE ALLOWS THE VANDY WHISTLER TO EXIST!!!
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Reminds me...my dad mentioned some years ago that back in the 50s, Miami was the football team you scheduled if you wanted an easy win and a nice trip.

Then, Dennis Erickson and Jimmy Johnson came along (I guess...I'm not real familiar with Miami FB records).
