Since Pony reminded me that Jeff Wright is on the list, I had to go find my notes about him.

He should be at first today though.

I'm still in awe of what seems to be a significant difference between Coach Yeskie and Coach Weiner.

Way less free passes given so far and every mound visit seems to make a substantial difference.

Nate is a world-class pitching coach, obviously, and no one doubts that but Max Weiner seems to be a pitcher whisperer.

This is going to be a fun season.

Yep. Basic philosophy seems different. We aren't really pitching to the edges the way we have in the past. We will have many more balls in play this season I think. Good defense will be key. Overall though I love the assumption that contact is good.

My college coach's favorite saying was, "See how far he can hit it." Occasionally we'd get a, "Babe Ruth is dead" before it. Seems like that's the mindset we've been living with when we get in tight spots. Ash was nibbling a little bit yesterday and it got him in trouble. Weiner comes out to talk and it's 3 straight strikes, not particularly located all that well, but it worked. We may get burned when we face some better talent but it seems like we're going to make the hitter earn it for the most part, which is good.
