Agree on that. Lsu lives/dies with the bomb. I am just surprised their pitching has been so effective. Wake has an excellent and deeper staff coming in. Lsu has pitched above themselves for sure.

Good pitches and Wake not getting it done in clutch situations. I hope Wake steps up. Skeenes is incredible, but Wake is throwing a stud also. Would love to see Wake beat Skeenes and send lsu home.

I only commented mildly negatively on their hitting. In fact, I need to thank you. Showing all those runs previously against quality teams actually reinforced my point. I doubt anybody expected them to score 20 a game, but 3,3 and 2 I do actually believe to be a bit disappointing for THEM specifically. Still clearly an excellent team of course. But to say that few runs from them specifically is not at least a BIT disappointing is disingenuous. I hope they win-if they don't step
Up a bit at the plate against Skeenes they will likely lose (although their stud is pitching also.) As I said, I hope they do. The clearly have the talent to do so and them crushing lsu's dreams would be lovely.

Is there better competition in the CWS? No doubt. But for a team to be so dominant in the regular season, regional, and super, and then to perform like this in the CWS... I think that is disappointing. Tack on the fact that they are the Number 1 overall seed and were the favorite to win it, and it turns it "disappointing" into "unimpressive" for me.
The biggest thing for me was not passing the eye test. After seeing them play two games in person at the CWS, I did not think they looked like a true Number 1 overall team should. These numbers seem to back me up a bit on that - they are way off pace in everything but "Runs Given Up", and only slightly off pace in "Runners LOB".
I am not saying they cannot win tomorrow, or cannot win the whole thing - their season numbers show that they can. Do I think they will win it all? No. But that does not matter for this post.

Part of the beauty of Omaha is it's simplicity. The organ. The lack of music and sound makers. No ribbon flashy scoreboard things. Every mound visit doesn't have a sponsor. Stop with all of that ***** If you want that there is an NFL/MLB/NHL/NBA stadium near you. Hell go to Kyle field.
One day they will ruin Omaha. But right now it is as perfect as baseball gets.

I know one day these ideas are going to win out. Omaha will have to fall prey to the producers. I will go to Omaha and there will be ribbon scoreboards, a DJ, no organ, cheerleaders on the dugouts between innings, everything will have a sponsor, water won't be free, and the average game will have six homeruns with the final score being 4-3. I know it will happen if they want to keep it.
Like I said 20 pages ago, the beauty of Omaha is its simplicity. It's the fact that it doesnt have a wrap around scoreboard, that it does have an open aired view, that it doesn't have a sponsor for every mound visit, that it doesnt have noisemakers and loud music, that it's not crazy expensive, etc. etc. I could bring the organ home and play it in my house.

If they wanted a view of downtown, then the ballpark should have been built southwest of downtown. As it is, fans in the lower deck have a view of the convention center, if they have any view at all. For most fans, the view of downtown at Omaha is like the mythical view of the Flat Irons in Boulder -- you can only see it from a small part of the venue.Quote:

If you don't like a wrap around scoreboard, close Mike Fahey Street, and build a hotel the circles the ballpark on that closed street, and parking lot C. It doesn't have to be something garish -- it just needs to block the wind.
Wake's nonconference schedule is absolutely terrible each year (imagine Aggies playing Prairie View most games). The ACC was very average this year. Hitters get too comfortable hitting in their little league park. Pitchers are for real but they are going against the best of SEC who see great pitching every weekend.
Like I posted early in this thread, Wake averaged 5.6 runs a game away from their park against teams with a pulse and/or talent this year. This shouldn't be that surprising. Their field is considerably smaller that the 2 local high school fields around me. Great pitching, over inflated offense. Without the weather delay on Saturday they would already be home.
The ACC tends to disappoint in baseball due to the geography of the conference which inflates the records of the good teams through non-conference and having perennial weak sisters in conference. So, more ACC teams end up being seeded too high and they get too many hosting slots. When Boston College is one of your top 5-6 in baseball in a season you know that the conference wasn't all that great.

I know its been like this for years but don't you think there should be more than one day off before the start of the championship series. Just a thought
