So CloseCallSports did do the TCU double header yesterday.

BS call at third


I think what she is saying is the third base umpire ruled him safe at third on the tag, not that he was forced off. He didnt see the foot come off the bag so he just made a safe call. The replay booth therefore can't review whether or not he was pushed off.

I guess. She calls it bush league and I agree.

That's who I am going for today. I'll figure out who I'm going for tomorrow later.

Got a long drive back to Lake Belton today. Leaving in five minutes. Should have two good radio games for the drive.

That's who I am going for today. I'll figure out who I'm going for tomorrow later.

Judgement calls can't be reviewable because by definition there will not be conclusive evidence that it was called incorrectly by the umpire

Judgement calls can't be reviewable because by definition there will not be conclusive evidence that it was called incorrectly by the umpire
Pretty much every safe and out call is a judgement call. Judgement calls are absolutely reviewable.

But to your conclusive video evidence point, I don't really love that part either. If we are going the replay route (which baseball has absolutely done), why isn't the judgement of the replay official that looks at multiple angles and in super slow motion not better than the official on the field watching in real time from only one angle? I'm in the camp of if we are going to use the replays, use them for everything not just for obvious misses.

A safe out call is not a judgement call. A player is either safe or out.

To compare it to football. A receiver is either in bounds or out of bounds when he catches a football. It's black and white. Whether or not a lineman commits holding is a judgement call.

A balk is a judgement call.

Wasn't the point of the BBCOR bat to lower exit velocity and improve player safety? Seems like they've juiced the ball and completely undone that.
