http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1823843Good call....It'll save the Astros $4M this year & $2M next year which can be used to upgrade some areas that need to be upgraded.
That link reports that the money goes down like this:
Hidalgo ($12M this year) + $4M
for
David Weathers ($4M this year)
Hidalgo has a $2M buyout for 2005 or will make $15M. I can't imagine that the Astros wouldn't have bought out his '05 season so they saved that $2M and the $4M difference in the actual trade.
David Weathers is a free agent at the end of this season.
