Haven't seen this posted. We're game 2 on Tuesday as the visitor against Tennessee, Hopefully we make a better showing against them than we did a couple of months ago. A one and done and I'd be maybe 50/50 that we're into the tournament.

It was posted on the The Weekend in the SEC Thread. I'll have the Tournament thread up either tomorrow evening or Monday morning.
UT and then if we win Arky -- both swept us this season. 2-0 here would be awesome and help me feel safe on Monday.
Unless the bid-stealers show up, I'd feel comfortable even if we go 0-1 in Hoover.

This seems pretty bold to me. 14 win SEC teams are historically in at about 72%, and our OOC is especially bad this year. I think we're probably in now but ain't no way I'm at 95%. I really really really hope you are correct though.ColleyvilleAg06 said:

RPI and SoS are helping us this year. There are some comments in another thread breaking down the At Large bids for each conference, and it appears that this is a fairly good year for bubble teams
Honestly, the one thing that will kill our chances will be Mizzou or Georgia winning the tournament. Luckily, I don't think that's going to happen.

The years that 14-16 teams missed how many SEC teams did make the field ?
Was there a year a team that missed the tourney got a bid ? Iirc that has happened maybe the size of the tourney has been expanded

I doubt seriously we win six…but guaranteeing a playoff spot that way would be an ABSOLUTE BLAST!!!

We are clearly alone at 10 and I while I think we are in, I don't believe we are safe. And I think it has more to do with bid stealing from other tournaments than either our performance at Hoover or any of the SEC below us…

Mixture of single and double elimination games seems weird to me, probably just never noticed before.
It really is an awful format (single, double, single). Just makes no sense at all. I hope it's blown up whenever the league expands (even if I'd rather the league not…)
I don't have the same confidence some of yall do. I HOPE we have done enough. I think it's close... no sure thing. Bad matchup with Tennessee, but it's a big ballpark, which can keep some balls in for their power guys.
It is an awful manner in which to determine the league's automatic qualifier. However we all know this rather Frankenstein Monsterish creation is a compromise which keeps as many SEC teams as possible for Regional consideration.
While also cutting down on how many pitches have to be thrown. 5 games is the maximum you will have to play. If it was double all the way through you would have some teams playing up to 7 right before a regional.

Six if you lose in the Double Elimination portion of the tournament and were not one of the four teams that earned a first day bye.

Is it significantly better at this than single all the way through? (Not better as a format for determining the champs or better in terms of fairness, but better at placing more teams in the postseason.)

Thank you for this information. But I think if we win it all we should be a 1 seed. Our RPI should increase that high. Why do you think we would not deserve a 1 seed? Thanks

Because there will still be 8 or more SEC teams ahead of us. The 10th best team in the SEC with a losing record in the regular season is not going to host, the committee doesn't put that much weight on conference tourneys
If we win the Tournament, a huge if considering our Jekyll & Hyde play. I still do not think one fantastic week on the back end of the season should override another team's season long resume.
Does anywhere still have an rpi needs report? Boyd's was my goto for a decade+ but he does t seem to be updating
