The first base ump was facing toward right field watching the action and the right fielder put both arms up signaling the ball had bounced over the fence, then the ball bounced back into the field from the top of the bull pen fence. While the right fielder was chasing down the ball the umpire put both of his arms out to his sides perpendicular to the field a few seconds before the bad throw. What does the ump's arm signal mean?
Got another response while I was responding to your question to me. The ump's arm signal indicated the ball was in play. Thanks anyway. I was just thinking the ump's signal may have had something to do with the bad throw.
