I think I just saw David Pierce blow off Minnich in the handshake line.

That coach is the biggest DB in D1 baseball coaching.

Why would he deny Schloss a handshake one year ago after we beat them in Austin?

Worse than the Tennessee coach?

UT coach = biggest DB
t.u. coach = 2nd biggest DB

And to be clear, I don't even know what happened tonight with Minnich. I just know Vitello and Pierce are Eskimo brothers when it comes to d-baggery.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Luke, those are almost exact words I've heard from a D1 college baseball umpire on those two coaches, except he called DP #1 and TV #2.

Pierce strikes me as a pompous ***** with a napoleon complex. He challenged two calls tonight that weren't that close, and both calls were confirmed.

I think he challenged the Werner pick off to give some time to allow his pitcher to gather himself and settle down.

Oh no doubt. It was easy enough to see all the way from the second deck that he was safe. We had some bit of momentum going and he wanted to kill it.

He threw his Friday night ace in a Tuesday night game because he wasn't about to go 0-5 vs A&M. Little brother type of behavior

2. If you are correct and the call is overturned, you get to keep your challenge, I believe

This is actually not all that uncommon. Tuesday is the day the Friday night guy throws a bullpen session anyway. Them throwing an inning or so is actually pretty smart.

Schloss called for Hendrix's glove to be checked in that 2015 Super Regional to try and throw off his momentum. I didn't like it then and don't like it now. Just seems kind of bush league. Not that big a deal, though.

I actually think he challenged it bc the SS seemed so confident and kind of showed up the umpire. He can't really see that from the dugout full speed. Seeing the review that SS was a clown to think he was out. Tagged him on the head after his hand had hit the base. You can't convice me you're that confident you got a guy out when you take them in the back of the head.

Didn't we throw Micah Dallas in Austin last year, and called it his bullpen day? I feel like we did.

1. Micah wasn't our ace
2. He was absolutely awful for the next 2 months. Pitching him that night was a mistake then and it was a mistake now. Pitchers are creatures of habit/routine. I hope it backfires on Texas like it did us

Didn't we start Walker Zander in that game?

I did see the tu coach blow off Brett Minnich's fist bump.

Sadly, most people, including coaches, don't understand the difference in throwing a bullpen and throwing to live batters. Make it a competitive game against an in state rival and the strain on the body multiple significantly. Adrenaline is an inescapable drug. And yes, pitchers are anul about their routine and should be.

I'm not saying the choice was right or wrong. Just saying we've done it too, just last year, so don't be so quick to pass judgment like that.

Zander started last year's game in Austin. Dallas threw one inning in that game, the last one.

Fair enough. Pierce is still a dbag. Always has been, always will be.

Never met the man and don't figure I ever will. Don't doubt one minute he is a DB. However, really don't think he is in that position to be everyone's best friend! Bet he is not worried one bit if people like him as long as his team is winning. Would bet he would be loved as our coach!

When you consider the last few tsip coaches, in the context of comparing/contrasting them with both Tom Chandler and Mark Johnson, a pattern is revealed. Coaches often reflect the collective personalities of the organization (alumni base) that hire them.
