Why would he deny Schloss a handshake one year ago after we beat them in Austin?

Luke, those are almost exact words I've heard from a D1 college baseball umpire on those two coaches, except he called DP #1 and TV #2.
Pierce strikes me as a pompous ***** with a napoleon complex. He challenged two calls tonight that weren't that close, and both calls were confirmed.
I think he challenged the Werner pick off to give some time to allow his pitcher to gather himself and settle down.
Pierce has little man syndrome.

This is actually not all that uncommon. Tuesday is the day the Friday night guy throws a bullpen session anyway. Them throwing an inning or so is actually pretty smart.AggieCrew44 said:

I actually think he challenged it bc the SS seemed so confident and kind of showed up the umpire. He can't really see that from the dugout full speed. Seeing the review that SS was a clown to think he was out. Tagged him on the head after his hand had hit the base. Sadly, most people, including coaches, don't understand the difference in throwing a bullpen and throwing to live batters. Make it a competitive game against an in state rival and the strain on the body multiple significantly. Adrenaline is an inescapable drug. Zander started last year's game in Austin. Dallas threw one inning in that game, the last one.

Never met the man and don't figure I ever will. Don't doubt one minute he is a DB. However, really don't think he is in that position to be everyone's best friend! Bet he is not worried one bit if people like him as long as his team is winning. Would bet he would be loved as our coach!
