I went to my first game at Olsen Field in 1990. But many years before that, I went to Lamar Cardinal games at Vincent-Beck Stadium in Beaumont.

I'm currently watching Lamar host Penn and loving it. It's an awful production (and is making me appreciate ours), but this is a pretty cool way to kill a few hours on a Saturday.

The $15 million ish ESPN spent per school and probably some additional spend by the school continues improving our streams.

LU looks to have taken some of that $15 million and installed a no dirt other than the pitcher's mound field.

60" of rain a year, and they can't grow grass? Mom used to cut our yard twice a week.

I have a tablet I use for watching other games while watching ours on TV. Tonight I'll have the sips and Fullerton on during our game on ATT Alt. ESPN+ is great for college baseball and basketball.

The kid batting right now for Penn has already committed to playing for us next season. Penn doesn't allow 5th year players.

LU? Sorry…couldn't remember who that was.

EDIT: was referring to the amount each SEC team received when the SECN was formed. Might have been less than that but can't remember the exact amount.

Lamar??? Not so much…

That is the problem too much rain. Cancelling too many games.

Should have put the money into a good drainage system instead of crappy artificial turf.

I stopped keeping track for a bit last year, but Ive set a goal to eventually watch a game (or parts, at least) at every D1 stadium. The VAST majority of it will coem from ESPN+. Its the best $8-10 I spend in any month.

I strongly suspect I will carry it next fall and abandon FBS football all-together.

I love the FCS playoffs, and I could see myself following them instead. I assume they have NIL and the transfer portal as well, but talk of it doesn't dominate the broadcasts.

Maybe I'll watch Sam Houston?!? Maybe my hometown Lamar Cardinals (usually dismal)?!?

My adopted 2nd team is Grand Canyon which plays in the WAC with Sam, SFA, ACU, Tarlton, etc. Crazy travel in that league 2 teams in California, 1 in Seattle and 3 in Utah. I'm actually going to watch them this weekend against New Mexico State.

That's awesome. I was mainly just commenting that Sam isn't long for the FCS.

Sam has been in the WAC a couple of years. I don't think they were official football members but they played the other members.

They've played a conference schedule and been official members in basketball and baseball though.

They won the fcs title in 2020.
They lost in the fcs quarters in 2021.
They began transition to fbs in 2022 and were not eligible for the postseason in either division.
This year they will be full members.

Again, my comment was to dabo that said he didn't want to watch fbs and might start following Sam

Or pick one of the schools from North Dakota. They're both pretty good.

Looked at the Lamar baseball schedule just now, and they're going to be here in Columbia on March 15.

3 PM game at Mizzou, about 3 miles to my north. I might have to go to this.
