I think it's more of a compliment. Batter was clearly not happy with the swing out of the box but the ball just kept on going... that it was an oppo taco makes it even surprising.

Couldn't tell what sort of break the runner got on the play. Early in the game it is probably the smart move to get at least one sure out.

Nah. Even if they did, batter gets in a rundown and ND has runners 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

Going for the double play was the right call. Clear the bases and have 2 outs.

Cool story there - ND starter tonight was a walk-on that was cut at Furman and ended up at ND where his brother plays football. Always love a good story of perseverance and stick-to-it-ive-ness.
