I didn't pay as much attention to the College World Series last year other than to see how Mississippi State was doing and idly root for them against texas because we know the 'sips don't deserve nice things, so I may have missed the change.
When did people start using the #MCWS on social media to reflect the College World Series? Call me old fashioned, but the #CWS always referred to Omaha and baseball and #WCWS always referred to Oklahoma City and softball. I'm seeing more #MCWS now, and wondering if this just started this season? Or was it happening last year and I didn't notice?
Is this a reaction by the NCAA after their embarrassment at the women's NCAA tournament last year, now they're trying to make everything seem equal? #MarchMadness now refers to both the men and the women, so now we have to make sure we use #MCWS and #WCWS so the women aren't offended because #CWS is exclusive and refers to only the men?
I know hashtags and social media is definitely serious business, but it was something I noticed and wondered about.
