I'm an old guy. But I don't think I've ever seen a team hit 9 HRs and lose. But that 9th inning could prove big for Stanford in the next two games.

Crazy. Remember Stanford did this to Texas state. Down 3-1 they hit HRs to tie. This is clearly a lot more but still. They're never out if it.

Stanford had 40 total bases, 32 of them by HR. UConn had 32 total bases. I would guess that Stanford is about to abuse them for the next 18 innings, but UConn has 50 wins.

To even have the opportunity to hit 4 homeruns in the bottom of the 9th you have to be way down and teams with huge leads tend to use 3rd tier pitchers (making hitting 4 homeruns slightly more likely). I'd wager hitting 4 homeruns in the bottom of the ninth is incredibly rare but teams that do it still lose a good percentage of the time.
