Adds some proven experience to the staff next year. If this coming offseason is anything like last year, should be a lot of fun to see what other pieces Schloss brings in.

But first… we've got some games to win.

Maybe he can he suit up this weekend? We need some more bullpen help.

Good stats out of the bullpen. Could use some work on the stache

3.46 with 54 innings pitched. 27 appearances and zero starts. Also 58/11 K/BB ratio. seems we have a stud out of the pen for next year!

This is a great pick up. Carson is from Thousand Oaks. Played HS ball in the Marmonte league - solid competitive baseball league. Was a top 20 pitching prospect out of CA in 2018. Wow, this staff can recruit!!

While I am glad to get a player like him I just can't get behind the fact that someone is already left the team he played for entered the portal and decided where he is going DURING the season that still hasn't finished yet.

It just seems wrong the way everything has gone so fast in the direction it is.
And while I am glad TAMU is on top of the new way of college athletics I don't like the way it is changing without any supervision.

His season ended on May 21st. I don't see why he has to wait to make a decision about his playing career until after every single post season game has been played.

His coach of all of 3 years, has been FIRED. At a program that's supposedly been "historical", but is now on coach 6 in like 15 years.

If we're gonna "follow the money", USC isn't doing anything different than we are. Check their football program transfers.

But are we questioning if a kid is running from a worse/more unstable one to a better one right now? And considering that before "his season has ended", which was a while ago, then his coach got fired? And questioning the issues of "that's where things are going"?

We had NO ISSUE with Schloss "transferring" from his locker room to come to us (for a lot of reasons that could be discussed, few of them money), then beating those same players barely 12 months later to advance to a Super.

But if a player does it…

It isn't the issue of one player coming or going and has nothing to do with TAMU.

The process is going to be completely in trouble within the next few years at this rate. And maybe that is free market the way it should be but I can fully believe that within the next couple of years players will be able to transfer IN SEASON as employees
It will likely happen in basketball first
And while amateurism has never really been there in college sports it will get so problematic that college sports may cease to exist entirely other than at maybe 30-50 school in America which will be a shame

Can you transfer to a school mid semester as a regular student?

I'll hang up & listen.

Transfer after fall semester and then spring semester. Middle of basketball season.

Hell could transfer after spring to new school for summer and baseball would be affected.

Not saying it will happen but I am sure someone will try and sue and rules COULD change especially if they become employees.

I am not against TAMU doing what they are doing better than others. What I am saying is the changes made in last few years most coaches agree are not good for college athletics

I would honestly say let's revisit this topic in say four or five years to see where we are. Because it may be by then you aren't required to be a full time student.

"amateur" sports is upside down because the supreme court doesnt understand what that is, and a whole lot of greedy people cant stand others making money off of something when they cant.

So they blow it up. i guess i prefer the backroom deals and shady money bags- at least we actually had "teams" with some continuity.

The NCAA will get rid of the 1-time waiver in the next 2 years. That is what causes so much instability. No source, just too logical not to. Even for the NCAA.

I hope not. One time waiver makes sense. It's the one time waiver plus hardship waiver plus exception waiver plus transfer and wait a year that causes so much instability.

There is zero reason not to allow a kid to transfer once if he makes a mistake when he's 17/18.

The 1-time Waiver is what gives successful athletes the leverage.

There is a reason: the program invests in the athlete by bringing him in. The program gets punished by the NCAA if that athlete does not get a degree. Even unsuccessful athletes are allowed to stay long enough to graduate.

Anyways, adult decisions have consequences. An 18 yo gets to vote. He gets to get drafted and ordered to kill people in the next foreign war. If he sticks it in w/o protection, he gets to pay child support for the next 18 years. If he commits a crime, he gets to sit in a cage with other adults even more violent than him. Cry me a river if a desperate coach makes a bunch of unreasonable promises and the athlete is dumb enough to bite.

In the past, programs had far too much power over the athlete. The transfer portal and NIL leveled the playing field. The coach having to re-recruit his stars every year goes too far.

Yep. Those are the same as a college choice.

Words, words, words, then you end with that? "The coach having to re-recruit his stars every year goes too far." But war, drafts, and jail, and all the whatnot? But a multimillion dollar paid coach "having to re recruit his stars" is going too far?

Like what was wrong with you when you made that post?!?!
