Yikes that was close
Didn't say 6 inches of the plate was a waste. When the ball, out of the pitcher's hand, is obviously not close, that's a waste. He did it to two batters in a row where it wasn't even a believable pitch. Again, the best purpose pitches appear over the plate then move off it or are adjusting the batter's eye level.powerbelly said:That's not true. Obviously you don't want it that outside, but one 6 inches outside serves a purposeRGLAG85 said:Not when it's 18 inches off the plate. That pitch had no purpose.Sean98 said:It can do a LOT to set up your next pitchRGLAG85 said:
I hate the waste pitch on 0-2. Batter's on his heels and all you do is give him a chance to breathe. Over the plate burying it or high at the letters or higher. All it does is drive your pitch count up.
Foul one deep on me, I hit you!PharmD4 said:

Just Changing the batters eye level serves a huge purpose to set up the next pitch.

These are college kids, not Greg Maddux. They don't execute perfectly.RGLAG85 said:Didn't say 6 inches of the plate was a waste.
