You think Jim will get a call from Rob saying "congratulations"?
we will dig into this in the offseason no doubt

but my first thought...hitting is very, very important in the SEC.

A&M's 3 best teams of the SEC era: 2015, 2016, and 2022 were the ones that could mash.

an imbalance developed or existed...pitching vs. hitting

Think of all the arms we had under the previous era. We had some rotations that were absolutely filthy. This is very much a wild guess but I would hazard that 80%-plus of the players we've had drafted in the last decade were pitchers. Naquin is the only position player I can think of off-hand with meaningful PT. And sure, MLB draftee and pt don't really correlate to college performance but it does clearly highlight that imbalance you cite. We've just not had the sticks.

The game is just different now in the era of specialists, the shift, and true outcome baseball. Just like "defense wins championships" in football, the adage of "pitching travels" in baseball is certainly less important than it once was.

Announcer said he misplayed it. I disagree. Leaned over with his beer and still got the ball without a drop spilled.

Wow! Heartiest congratulations to the team and coaches on a great win, SEC West title, and extraordinary accomplishment in recent Aggie BB history that far exceeds all expectations for 2022, and there's more BB to play!

I think Shoemake will be pretty good.

It's their version of Section 203, just less classy. They were actually pretty welcoming until we started tacking them on.

Interesting diagrams for it is what I saw. We have some tall players and several pitches at the shins were called strikes.

Gonna need some Cliff Notes on how to read half of the stats on that thread.

Ump favored Ole Miss statistically and we still smoked them. In fact, they favored Ole Miss in every game in that series.

I don't know if he favored them intentionally, it just seems he has no clue where the strike zone is down and away.

Right, he statistically favored them. Likely not purposeful.. but Ole miss was favored in all of them which kinda sucks.

Was not aware this type data existed, or was publicly available. But it confirms my expectations, and begs the question "if this type of randomness and discrepancy is pervasive, when will technology be introduced in order to achieve some degree of fairness and integrity to the calling of pitches (balls and strikes)?

We have already embraced reviews of virtually every other aspect of the game. How long can this most fundamental aspect continue to be ignored, in the face of such reliable evidence of unfairness?

We need to see how many pitches each team threw to get an idea just how much ole miss was favored. I'm betting the big discrepancy is in part because we took and fouled off a ton of pitches.
