From this first series?

I loved the situational awareness, especially the aggressiveness in the approach the last few innings of today.

Also, defensive looks solid. Werner is a wall at 3B, Moss had some great picks at first, and Kalae/Kaler look solid up the middle.

Even though it was one series, really excited and optimistic about this season.

Good first weekend. Liked seeing the team not panic down late.

Really liked the way Schloss managed the pitcher last night after his error.

If the HBP was intentional, that was my biggest takeaway. The attitude of the coach and players weren't going to let them lose after the bush league play at 2nd.

This team is going to play aggressive baseball all year is what I learned this weekend. We had some teachable moments that we can learn from like throwing to first base when there are 2 outs and calling time out after sliding in for a double, but I saw that this team has a lot of potential.

the 9-hole hitter getting the green light to swing away...down 1 in the 9th inning at home...with a runner on 1st and nobody out.

that's been a bunt situation for decades & decades of aggie baseball

There is a confidence we have not had since 2016. And the players like each other.

This. The fish closing out the game yesterday after the mental mistake and today's final innings both showed an attitude that it takes to be great.

EDIT: Also, when Werner made the diving stop and laser throw to first, something about the way he and the team walked into the dugout looked like they just expected to make every one of those plays.

No way that was intentional, right!?

Does not seem smart at all if so.

The smiles from the coaching staff post-game on the field with their team.

They now know. From the good side.

My biggest takeaway is that we're 3-0. And after 3 games, that's my favorite record.

What I liked was the team coming out to hug Hogan after his mis step.

Totally different vibe.

My takeaways from watching the series on TV. We are much more aggressive at the plate than past years. The guys seem to really like each other. We are a solid fielding team with probably average pitching. It's way too early to draw long range conclusions, but I think we made a good hire.

I think it might probably was. Cortez had great control other than that one pitch. I think he threw one other ball his entire time on the mound. Quite a coincidence that the first pitch hit the guy who was responsible for the play at 2nd. Also, it was the first pitch of the at bad that looked pretty intentional. Also, the body language. Cortez kept looking at the batter after the ball hit him, didn't look away. Usually if a pitch is an accident, the pitcher looks away.

The Fordham bench definitely looked like they thought it was intentional.

Childress never did that and it always bugged me. I don't want any opponent seriously injured or "earholed" or whatnot. But sending a message that BS won't be tolerated does a lot.

Definitely. He was super efficient and kept us in the game. Deserved his win.

Really like how the pitching staff worked down in the zone and threw strikes.

Thought the batters seemed to have a plan when they got to the plate and stuck with it.

Still some talent deficiencies that will limit this group, but it should be fun to watch them progress.

I just returned home from watching all three games this weekend.

The thing that stood out to me the most was infield defense. We might have one of the best infield defenses we've ever had.

I think that winning the way we did today was better for the team than if we won 10-0. What stood out to me was the players running over and pointing up into 203, acknowledging the fans.

Speaking of 202 and 203, they were fantastic all weekend, especially today.

Friday and Saturday I hated the music change, etc. Today was a bit more like the Olsen of old. Centerfield and a couple other classics played. Also, nice to see the kids getting to run out on the field for the national anthem and run the bases afterward.

One final thought. Most think the Ags will be a bubble team when all is said and done. One win or loss against a low RPI team like Fordham, can be the difference.

God bless Aggie baseball and Olsen magic!

Pitching looks good. Hitting needs some work. I think we'll be better on both sides compared to last year.

middle and bottom of the order looked good… it's only 3 games, Kaler might get one more weekend at the top, then it's down to 9 hole.

would like Cortez as a 1 inning late guy… runs it up there, they weren't close to barreling him up, all weak contact

I didn't get to keep up with the game at all. Could you explain what happened? We didn't like a play at 2nd when we were on offense so our pitcher plugged a Fordham hitter???

Trailing 4-3, Werner leads off the inning with a double. He's safe my a mile, but as the 2nd baseman gets the ball and makes the tag (late), his momentum/body made him push Werner off the base a bit and after a LONG review (umpire initiated), they called him out. I saw the Fordham players talking at Werner as he shook his head and went back to the dugout- definitely didn't look friendly.

Like I said, I think it was intentional because Cortez had great command his entire appearance... Other than that one pitch which was the first pitch of the at-bat, and he kept looking at the batter after he hit him.

Werner, the Fordham 2nd baseman and shortstop talked and were smiling throughout the entire review. Not sure anything "unfriendly" was said while he ran back to the dugout. Or rather he sauntered back…definitely took his time.

Yeah? That was the one game I didn't attend, so maybe hitting that guy with the one pitch that got away from him was a crazy coincidence.
