South Alabama ranked #54 despite a 3-8 record.

Arkansas only #70 despite 11-5 record.

Santa Clara, this week's opponent, #92 with an 11-7 record.

Luckily for the Ags, both S. Alabama and Santa Clara should do much better once conference play starts. Their RPI numbers may not improve, but they should both end up with semi-respectable overall records.

Has anyone looked at Wichita State's Schedule this year? They could have one of the easiest schedules I've ever seen.

You're joking, right? They play Long Beach, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Nebraska, ULL, UCLA. Try looking at some of the SEC teams' OOC schedules. You cant blame Wichita for being in the MVC. And even thats no cakewalk--there's always some tough teams in that conference. SMS made the CWS last year remember.

Now that I look further into it, you're right. I should've pointed out that they play very few teams from major conferences. Yes, LBSU, Arizona State, and Nebraska are very good. UCLA is a decent team. I don't know anything about ULL baseball, but if they are like most of their other sports, that can't be good. As for OU, you can't honestly tell me that they were scheduled as a difficult opponent.

As for their conference schedule, most of those teams would get destroyed week in and week out in a major conference.

It is the same argument for Rice. They play a decent to tough out of conference schedule, but their conference schedule is cake.

You're right, you don't know anything about ULL baseball. It's their prize sport and usually are a solid team. They've beaten some good teams at the Houston tournament for the past few years.

so a couple games vs longbeach, ou, and arizona state (avg rpi = 47) along with 1 vs nebraska, 2 vs ucla (1 good pitcher and an rpi in the 60's) and 3 vs ULL (133 rpi) is a tough schedule? i think we have a couple of times where in 2 weeks we play tougher competition than they play all season. How bout a 1 week example...we play rice followed by tech (3 game set) followed by texas state...thats 5 games vs top 30 rpi teams. not to mention the baylor series (a team that could definately be CWS material if they get the sticks workin) the weekend before all of this. Im not sayin that wsu has the easiest schedule or we have the toughest, but theirs is pretty damn easy

edit: i realize rpi is worthless right now, just using it in my example cause thats the topic of this thread and it helps my point a little

ULL is usually a solid squad.

Yes using RPI is worthless. ASU and Long Beach State are top 10 teams. The point is almost every team on the optional part of their schedule is at least a decent team. And the league they play in, which again IS NOT OPTIONAL, is better than you give them credit for. All in all, its probably one of the top 10 schedules among teams in non-power conferences. And the OOC part of it is stronger than probably half the teams in the SEC or ACC. So to call it one of the easist schedules you've ever seen is ridiculous. And to back that argument up by comparing it to A&M's schedule including conference games is disingenous.
