in my mind, Childress is Mark Richt at Georgia. Good coach, not great. Good enough each year to not be fired, but not good enough to be elite.

Very competitive each year, and a contender more often than not. But never winning the big games or truly competing for national titles.

I've been a big supporter of his during his time and will continue to do so. However, I do realize a change may need to be made if we do not advance past the regional round again this season. Still a lot of season left though and one weekend in march does not define your season.

Kinda. I know folks need to vent. I just question the efficacy of "advocating" (normally just *****ing) on a message board. There's one guy here who MIGHT have some sway and he's still enjoying the season. Everyone else is just a fan. You want to advocate? Write a check. Until then, ***** where you want but don't be surprised when people who are tired of listening to it ***** back.

I do not think it's too early to call Childress's coaching tenure here a failure, depending on how you define that. Or a success, depending how you define that

Those positions have been staked out by various posters for years and aren't gonna change unless Childress's program breaks one way or the other decisively

Sorta. Staff has said that flooding a game thread with "hyper negativity" on this forum isn't allowed. So yeah, the beauty of a message board is that you can express your opinion for free....... within the rules of that message board. As I said, express away where it's intended to be discussed (threads like this)- I'm not really interested in debating coaching replacements until after the season. Maybe then I'll join in, though I don't really see the point.

I agree that game threads aren't the place for that

I'm well aware of Buford's posting history on this board, hence my first response on this thread.

I am optimistic that we will avoid getting swept the rest of the season, and after last weekend's performance that is very optimistic. Once Childress joins the weekend rotation, then our starting pitching should be as good as anyone in the league. We'll need our starters to go deeper into games with hopefully a couple of complete games.
Of concern is the pen, particularly with Miller who was 0-2 last weekend with an ERA somewhere around 17.00 for the weekend.
I am also optimistic R.C. will finally shake up the line up as he hinted too after Saturday's loss. His shakeup on Sunday consisted of moving Blake from the two hole to the three hole.

I think the frustration level is higher with the older Ags. If you've been watching Aggie baseball since the 80s or even earlier, you know how many times we've thought we had it together for a real run and were fully confident it would happen.

Also, unfair to say people are only negative. I think if we had taken care of business this weekend and particularly if we had beaten a red hot UCLA team, there would be hundreds of positive posts. I don't think beating SFA or someone like that on a Tuesday is going to get people revved up to post.

I just hate when I can't get through a game thread or any thread without multiple posts to get rid of someone when there is NO WAY without a MAJOR ISSUE arising that will change anything this season. If you could have a positive discussion about lineups pitching defense etc without being cluttered with get rid of him, x years is enough rants it would make for a better season of Aggie baseball regardless of the effort on the field of play because change ain't happening until at least June

This. There are some people that just can't help themselves and feel entitled to turn every baseball discussion into a debate on Childress. It's really childish behavior. There are threads for discussing Childress, which is fine, but there should be threads where the discussion is about baseball and not the tenure of the coach.

Going 0-3 in a weekend sure does leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth. I'm sure the coaching staff and players are going to use this as motivation. I'm excited to see how we rebound.
