I don't get it. The let the obvious wrong calls stand and overturn the calls to close to tell. It's been bad all postseason.

Disagree. Call on field was safe and that was way too close. He isn't out when the ball touches the tip of his glove.

He may have been out but not enough to overturn. That the way baseball go.

Over-managing by Michigan. They'll probably get away with it, but this is Omaha. If the kid is throwing strikes and getting outs, you don't make a change in a 4 run game. This isn't get cute time.

Tournament play isn't about the best team winning, it's about the hot team winning. If Rocker gets it done today, Vandy will probably pull it out, but when a team gets on a roll, they can be hard to stop.

Yes and no. Michigan may not have the best overall record at the end of the season (assuming they win 1 of the next 2 games anyway), but that is largely irrelevant - because if they pull it off, they are undoubtedly the best team when it matters. And if they beat Vandy 2/3, it's not a lie to say that they were a better team than Vandy - head to head record will show that.

I still hope Vandy wakes up and finds a way to slow down the freight train that is Michigan baseball right now, but man - that will be a tall order at the moment.

You are correct though that it is a function of being hot when it matters though - and getting hot at the end of the season is where you win championships.

Fair enough, but we were a better team than Vandy for one weekend back in March. Based on what they showed at Olsen, I thought they would get tagged with some more losses in SEC play, but over the long haul, they were able to bash their way past their pitching shortcomings. However, in a 3 game set, they are definitely vulnerable.

That's the weird thing about baseball.

The best team wins the season. A hot team wins the tournament.

They are different things that require different strategies & strengths. Stamina for instance. A great team might be a bad team without rest, but a decent team might be consistent and stay decent playing double headers for 7 days in a row.

If Michigan pulls this off, they will have eliminated the #1 and #2 overall seeds in the tourney. Hard to argue with that.

Any team can win in the playoffs in any sport. Teams start to gel, players get better, players get healthier, etc. if we had an 8-team playoff Johnny's heisman year, we'd probably have won a natty.

These teams don't have much in common though. Virginia is a regular Regional host and often a national seed. CC usually has a gaudy record.
