Funny, you should ask. Using statistics from major league baseball: (1) runner on first with one out: the probability of scoring one run is 12.2%. (2) runner on second with two outs: the probability of scoring one run is 15.0%.

Stats from 1957 to 2015. 391,647 opportunities. gregstoll.com

Stars might lie but the numbers never do.

Yep if you go by MLB stats, really the only time it's justified to sacrifice bunt is when you are in situations where you only need one run. Sacrifice bunting generally reduces your chances of scoring more than 1 run. I wish someone would do a detailed analysis of how this transfers to college ball though. In particular, this A&M team might throw off your decisionmaking, since its slugging percentage is very low.

I don't like it.

But it worked so I loved it.

Maybe the bigger question is why did they pitch to Ducoff?

I don't recall who was hitting behind Ducoff. Was it Foster? That should have figured into it for Florida as I believe I would have put Ducoff on and pitched to the next guy. After Ducoff's last at bat and with his history all season (which should have been in the scouting report), I would have put him on. His run meant nothing.

So going forward, bunting in front of Ducoff will probably need some consideration for who hits behind him

Little Coleman, who was 1-4...Same as Ducoff on the day.
