The only change I would make is adding one more home and home midweek series. Possibly Baylor or TCU.
Or do a Tuesday-Wednesday midweek series with Texas... like Arkansas did. One in Austin, and then the next night in CS. Or vice versa
That's fine because no one wants to get in bed with the sips.drthoop said:

because I enjoy sell out crowds on weekday games and that game brings out the best atmosphere we've had at olsen outside of postseason.drthoop said:

Because they never dealt with them and have limited historical experiences. Also they get tired of their sip and Big 12 friends messing with them and they think they need to prove something when we don't.drthoop said:

So you are in favor of increasing our OOC SOS which can only be done by playing more games on the road, correct? Because any Power Five is going to want a home and home, correct? Or the other way is to play more midweeks on the road. Cool, let the season ticket holders vote on it. I will be happy to honor their wishes.drthoop said:

I'm not sure what you are saying about last year. We didn't host because of our conference record, not our non conference schedule. Or are you saying our SOS was the only reason we were close to that last year. Great! So our non-conference schedule wasn't a issue. We have about the same one this year so it shouldn't be an issue this year either. So, why are we arguing about this now?TXAggie2011 said:
We ended up with the #15 SoS and #15 RPI on selection day last year which is how we ended up squarely on the regional host bubble.

In 2017, we ended up with the #63 SoS on selection day which is how a 16-14 SEC team ended up with the #46 RPI and squarely on the tournament bubble.
Our SOS was a concern so they picked TCU, who had a worse SOS than us (and won less games)? That doesn't make sense. We finished fourth in our conference and they would rather give a national seed to a TCU team that won their conference than to a fourth SEC team.Quote:
In 2015, we had the #58 SoS on selection day which is a big piece of how we ended up on the super regional host bubble.

We lost 6 non-conference games. We lost to almost all of the good nonconference teams we played.

The only decent nonconference game we won that year was tech. Not to mention we also had some losses to Pepperdine and UTA sprinkled in. And you are entitled to your opinion. As a season ticket holder I disagree as do most of the season ticket holders I know. I firmly believe if the majority agreed with you the scheduling would be more like you are suggesting.
They had the broadcast rights to that game, since it was their home game. I guess if it would have stayed as a Tier 3 event, it could have been on LHN. Moving it to FS1 tells me it wasn't Tier 3, and maybe they got some money for that. However, as the rights holder, they are under no obligation to split that with us.+ 3 more quotes (click to expand)Anonymous Source said:I'm curious about the bolded part. 6 non-conference losses doomed us? 3 of the top 11 RPIs on selection day had at least 7 non-conference losses. 12 of the 45 teams in front of us had at least 10 non-conference losses.Quote:

Right, but didn't you just argue that our nonconference schedule was crappy that year. So we lost 6 nonconference games against a crappy nonconference schedule that year. If we schedule better, wouldn't there be a good chance we would have lost more that year.Quote:

Look at butts in seats for UIC and compare that to when we play Arkansas or Ole Miss and you can't convince me that "most fans" don't have a strong preference for higher quality opponents. And don't pretend the AD gives 2 ****s about our fans preference.
We might have. The idea is losing a few more games against a tougher schedule isn't necessarily a bad thing.+ 1 more quotes (click to expand)TXAggie2011 said:6 non-conference losses doomed us? 3 of the top 11 RPIs on selection day had at least 7 non-conference losses. 12 of the 45 teams in front of us had at least 10 non-conference losses.nereus said:Right, but didn't you just argue that our nonconference schedule was crappy that year. True. Wish it had been double broadcast on FS1 and LHN. I'd love to watch their commentators get butt hurt and make up excuses.Sinuso said:

I say just keep it on campus and play two games. Im not sure how much attendance or tv coverage you would get at a neutral site on a Tuesday evening.Wicked Good Ag said:
I would say Frisco Round Rock Sugarland and Whaterburger Field in CC would all be solid venues to play a game in against them.
I love the idea of a home and home each season. Two games. If you win both in a given year you win the "Cup" and like the Ryder Cup you keep it until you lose it by being swept the next year.
If you do a home and home and then a third at neutral site whoever wins the series
