As a new baseball fan this year I must admit this makes zero sense. A loss should cost us much more than a win over a bad team.

They suck so bad, we get penalized just for playing them regardless of the outcome. They are ranked #292 in the RPI out of 297 teams. Of the 5 teams ranked behind PV, 4 are from the worst conference in D1, the Mid-Eastern Atheltic Conference, and the other is St. Peter's which hasn't won a game in over 2 years.

Just for entertainment, the MEAC has sent Bethune-Cookman to the dance 16 of the past 19 years as their conference tournament winner. Since the Regional/Super-Regional format started in 1999, the MEAC has won 4 of 42 games in the NCAA tournament. 2 of those were by BC in last year's playoffs when the beat Marist in the losers bracket and then upset Florida to force a championship game which they lost.
