MJ got win #500 in game 8 of his 12th season (1996)...and at the time that made his overall coaching record: 500-200-2 (thru 702 games).

MJ's winning % during the first half of his tenure was boosted considerably by the 89 & 93 teams combining to go 111-18 in those 2 years. And it stayed strong thru the 1999 season.

the Childress era can start closing the gap after 15 years
