You would expect that his role as been discussed in coming back
With Hall and Scheref both opting for professional contracts based upon where they were chosen in the draft I would assume some scholarship money was available for possible grad work
I have no idea what his role would be for 2018 season but if Dox can improve and Chaffin can maintain his performance for next season while possibly adding innings as a starter we could be in good shape on the pitching side for sure
One of the reasons we didn't do well against TCU was we chased pitches outside of the strike zone by Lerch not that he threw a ton of pitches over the meat of the plate. Plate discipline will have to improve and summer ball will definitely help with that

Now that would be big. The cap on signing bonuses is $100k after the 10th round (without eating into the bonus pool) but you have to think a 13th time pick will be getting a little extra chance to perform compared to the 32nd Round.

I understand what you're saying, but Kent primarily threw on Sundays.

Kent also ate up innings which if the bullpen was taxed we needed out of a weekend guy. I remember '93 thinking maybe go Granger Wunsch then Moore might work because lots of double headers with the first being a seven inning game and Wunsch could go a bit shorter than Moore but heat heat crafty may work as well
I'm sure the coaches have an idea what the rotation will look like, but, odds are, that things won't go according to plan--they almost never do. I'd be curious to know what the team that drafted Kaylor told him about how they saw his role, and how that fit into his decision to return. He's good enough to be a weekend starter, but he's so good coming out of the pen that I kind of hate to see him used only once on the weekend. Either way, this could be huge for next year. With the guys we have coming back, we're in pretty good shape, even before getting contributions from any new arrivals. Let's hope everyone stays healthy and makes the kind of progress you would normally expect with another year of experience.

Chafin definitely deserved pitcher of the year. I always felt good when he was available to pitch. Wonder if he will play summer ball.
