This might be a dumb question, but does anyone know if it's possible to host a kid's birthday party at Blue Bell? Obviously I could buy a block of GA tickets, and that's what I'm planning to do. I just didn't know if they have a room where we could do cake and stuff like that as well. And yes, doing it at the tailgate would be more fun, I'm just trying to get all my options on the table.

I called a few different places within TMF and the AD and not a single person could tell me anything.

There are luxury suites and the Diamond Club, but I cant even imagine the amount of money it would take to rent one out for a game day.

even if you can, they'll make you buy levy food and probable a levy cake. Which will cost $1500 and taste like a twinkie left out in the sun, then frozen and thawed out 5 minutes before the party.

You're not going to be able to bring in a cake or gifts or party stuff. My suggestion is to do the party stuff with a tailgate at the grassy area at Reed before the game. That way you fill the kids with cake and maybe they won't want so much from concessions.

There are picnic tables outside of Olsen near where the team buses park, but I'm not sure if those are for general use or only for RVers.

There is a party deck at the Student Rec center now that overlooks Olsen. I don't know how to get the specifics, but it might be possible to get up there.

Do the party stuff at the tables under the trees then come in and watch the game. You can't bring in outside food and all gifts would have to be in clear bags

Kind of defeats the point, huh?

The party deck at the Rec is what the OP needs. Don't know the details, but it can be rented out for games. Might not be cheap, but it's your only option unless you have a friend that has a suite.

We had a campus tour 2 weeks ago and the folks at rec sports said you had to contact the Athletic Department for rates on renting out the porch of the rec. I think it is a great space, but not sure how well that would work for kids under 13 or so.

You could rent the Olsen Pavilion right outside the field. It's rented through Transportation Services.

With all due respect what a horrible job of marketing our school does.(or any government operation)

Here is a potential customer crying out to spend money and no one knows who to contact.

Pretty sure when/if he finally finds out how to do it the price will be so high and so many hangers on ie Levy, will attempt to make a money grab, the kid will be better off celebrating the birthday at McDonalds.

Man, y'all are awesome. I started making a list of the people to name and thank, but then realized every reply had great info. Thanks!

I'll look into the party deck at the Rec Center. My only concern about that is the kids are in the 6-7 year old range. They're also mostly boys, so keeping their attention on the game is nearly impossible. I'd like for them to pay attention and learn something, if possible. It'll mostly be my son's coach pitch teammates, and I'm the coach, so I'm kinda looking to kill two birds with one stone.;-)

Before learning of Rec Center option, I was thinking GA and the grass berm. Thought maybe I could keep them watching for a few innings before the gravitational pull of the playground becomes too strong. 3 innings on berm, 3 at playground and 3 back on berm is prolly too ambitious, though!

Anybody have more thoughts, now that you have more details? Thanks again!

If they are 6-7 year old boys, then just find an open field somewhere. Let them run amok while you sit in a lawn chair, drink beer and look at their hot moms.

It can only be rented out through a school organization. I looked into it when the season started.

The issue isnt that they arent marketing places to rent, its that there is really no where he can rent from the school. The 2 options I gave cant really be rented from the school for a game. The Diamond Club cant be rented for a game, as it serves reserved seats, and individual suites are essentially owned by a 3rd party who paid an astronomical amount for them, so to deprive them of use of one for a weekend, one would likely have to pay with their first born child, and its not a transaction the school would be involved in. As someone else said, you cant rent the pavilion at the rec without being a school organization.

Everyone has stated that the only real options for celebrating with a cake, gifts, etc, would be outside of BBP, and then buying tickets for everyone coming in.

Obviously this isnt what OP was hoping to hear, I'm sure, but I dont think you can blame horrible marketing on the school for NOT marketing something they DONT have/facilitate.

I have looked into renting the party deck. Small room is I believe 900 bucks and the big room is 1200 bucks. And that was just for two hours pre game and before food, drinks, etc. and servers and I believe a security guard all through the university as per their regulations.

So you are probably looking at a minimum of 1500-2000 bucks. With kids that age, no way I would spend that kind of money and would look into reserving(if possible)the covered Pavilion by the rv lot near the picnic tables.

I will try to remember to ask some of my rv friends how to reserve the pavilion.

Oh, and we will be at the party deck pregame tonight as part of the Champions Council of the 12th Man foundation. It will be "free" but obviously cost a helluva lot or we would not be invited.

Hot dogs in the suite will run you about $25 each...at least that is what it seems like they cost

I like the idea of buying a block of general admission tickets...and have everyone ready to enter the park right when it opens...and then you'll have the RF berm, tables, and playground all to yourself for 30 to 45 minutes.

you'll need someone on the inside to get a cake in the park; but a player or a coach or an usher could make that happen

Boy, A&M is doing it wrong. My son had his birthday party at Auburn's baseball field during a game, and it was top notch. The birthday package came with hot dogs, drinks, and a cookie cake. Got his name up on the jumbrotron. 2 or 3 of the players came out to take photographs with him after the game, and he got to go to the locker room, and all the players signed a pennant for him. It was a great experience....we had a blast. Too bad A&M doesn't do something like this.

What was the cost per person and cost for the package? Were you given a room/special area for cake and presents?

That is a great idea but I wonder about the numbers. I have been to Ag games in Auburn and they usually had less than a thousand fans a game.

I think the best idea might be to do it during weekday games. On a big SEC series weekend you could easily have double digit birthday parties and the crowds would make it difficult.

Here is the link to the Auburn site:

http://www.auburntigers.com/kidsclub/parties.html

They didn't give us a special room. Just had the food and cake there in the section they put us in.

Yes, crowds at Auburn games are typically less than A&M games. I can see how it would be more difficult to do at A&M games.

They used to have a birthday package that included hot dogs and drinks and you could bring in your cake and eat it, too. This was before, of course, the change to the current concession regime.
