My brother and I were talking about the Meltdown at Minute Maid and started to reminisce about the '89 season and how much fun it was.

Anyway, we start talking about the songs DD played in certain situations. We came up with just a few examples but I know there's some old Ags out there with better memories than me. I figured I'd use the power of Texags to compile a list of DD's situational songs.

I'll go first. I seem to remember DD playing We Will Rock You when the opposing team's relief pitcher was running in from the bullpen.

I also remember him playing You're No Good when the opposing manager went out to talk to his pitcher...he would say the mound was bugged and then play the song.

What else you got ?

Late in the game if we got a needed hit he'd play Stroke, Smoke Em if you got em but only at the bottom, the temperature is 92 beat the hell outta (team) degrees. I also liked how walk up music for to the players' names. I'll try and remember more situational music.

Wasn't the theme from "Dragnet" played for some kind of situation involving the umpires, or maybe a mound visit?

A couple from before the game even started -
During the Aggies infield practice, Harlem Globetrotters Theme

While giving the lineup for the opposing team the theme for Leave it to Beaver was played including "and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver" after at the conclusion.

Many of the sitiational bits still used today began under DD; The Rifleman, Jaws, MASH.

MASH for injury. The trainer for the team Mike Ricke, now the trainer for the women's BB team, looked like Radar O'Reilly from the show.

JAWS when there was blood in the water, in other words when we were threatening a rally. It is where the shark chomp we still see today began.

Leave it to Beaver theme when announcing the opposing line up.

Hill Street Blues for the umpires.

Not a song but on the old scoreboard ..in just plain yellow bulbs
During JAWS .. A shark fin would be displayed bobbing up and down
During MASH.. An ambulance would be going back and forth
After an A&M Homerun... " LOOK OUT HEARNE"

DD also started the playing of The Natural theme after an A&M Homerun.

Do we still play that today after A&M home runs? I wanna say yes but am not certain.

It's sad that a lot of these don't happen anymore....

"You Dropped a Bomb on Me," for home runs
Olympic theme song for a great defensive play

Don't remember hearing that in a while. It started phasing out with the introduction of bubbles. Now it's more than likely an upbeat song. I do miss the siren/The Natural music after a home run.

Yeah I defenitly wasn't a huge fan of the siren... But we played natural theme after home runs for many years by itself without the siren.
Then for some reason added the siren.
I did like the natural theme alone after Homerun... If we played it now with bubbles it could be even better than before with bubbles sort of simulating the flying sparks from the lights lol

When the opposing defense made an error (ball went under a glove) he would play "My Bucket's got a Hole in it" by Hank Williams.

Actually, I'm not sure if DD ever played the Natural. He was playing "Jesus Christ, Superstar" in the late '80s, and his last year was 1990 (might have transitioned over to "Drop the Bomb" that year--OSU used to play that, and it was a hit with the players).

I remember a lot of these from the early 90s after DD left. I started in 93. Damn, we really need to bring many of these back. Especially the Globtrotter theme and Leave it to Beaver. DD kept doing a lot of these while at Round Rock in the early to mid 2000s when I lived there and went to games. It was great. I had no idea at first DD was the PA guy for the Express the first year they were in Round Rock. When I went to my first game it felt so much like Olsen I couldn't believe it until I found out it was DD. DD was also very complimentary to my wife whenever she'd sing the National Anthem for the Express. She's classically trained and DD usually threw a compliment in for her during the tryouts each year. Not sure he he knew her husband was an Ag. I was always appreciative of that.

The year one of the players was getting married after a game he played going to the chapel and other wedding type songs between innings. That would have been 87-88-89 or 90 not sure which.
