Oh, and I wish we would do something like LSU is doing this weekend...host a tournament with Army, Navy and Air Force being the other 3 teams. I know it wouldn't do anything for our RPI, but it can't be any worse for us than playing Bowling Green or Brown.

And what is Childress' recent obsession with hosting Ivy League teams?

No Navy at Alex Box this weekend, but I agree.

Really wish the football program would work in the service academies into the schedule on a fairly regular basis.

Agree with the football program as well. Granted, the academies will probably want at least some sort of return trip out of us if they come to Kyle. Or if we don't go to Annapolis, West Point or Colorado Springs, they'll likely ask us to do a "home" game for them at a neutral site like we did with Army in the Alamodome a few years ago.

But baseball would be a perfect snowbird opportunity for the academies. It could be a phenomenal "military appreciation" type weekend. We could give 2 trophies...one for the overall winner of the tourney and one could be the baseball version of the Commander In Chief Trophy for the academy that has the best record vs. the other two academy teams.

I'd rather stay away from any team that runs the option and cut blocks.

But baseball and basketball would be cool.

Poche pitched a 7-inning no-hitter for us today in the second game against Army. Would have been a perfect game if Deichmann hadn't dropped a pop up in right field.

If he and Lange can be dominant like that for most of the year, we will be tough to beat on the weekends.

Pretty good weekend for the SEC except for Georgia. Man that program has fallen apart since 2008.

Not uncommon to see this with early OOC series. Texas/Rice played 4 this weekend too.

It allows teams to get 4 games for the same guarantee they'd pay for a 3 game series, and it's one less OOC midweek game they'll need to play (and pay for) at some point.

After the first weekend of play, the Aggies are leading the nation in runs per game (16.7). A small achievement, but one that I thought was worth mentioning.

they seem to do this every year. It proves next to nothing with regard to whom is the better team
