Because you don't start warming up a reliever before the game gets underway.


You can get a guy hot in 2 batters. We sent guys to the pen after the 4th batter. We could have had people warm for several batters by the time we pulled him.

Well he's calling the pitches. I suppose you can go through a slump in pitch-calling just like in batting or pitching.

Exactly, but if our pitching can pull their collective heads out of their asses, we can claw our way back into it. But it also seems like the batters are trying too hard, now.

Some guys in here are brutal to our players. It is almost as if they never really watched or played baseball. It is a game of consistent failure. You just try not to fail as much as the other team.

They gave up a pretty decent amount of runs in those games in Starkville, too (5 and 6 in the last two games). 5 runs, like earlier today, should be plenty for a team with a solid Friday starter.

To be blunt, we still don't know what our rotation is for the weekend in the SEC because we don't have 3 guys (or maybe even 2) that are going to give us consistently good SEC starts. We're throwing in a group of freshman and a few sophomores with no weekend starting experience to because the upperclassmen have struggled with control all season. We pretty much have to score a ton to win a series because a couple of shutdown starts hasn't been part of the script this season.
