On Wednesday night the No. 23 Texas A&M softball team took on the Sam Houston State Bearkats at the Aggie Softball Complex.

Samantha Show threw a complete game one-hitter and helped lead a 8-0 run-rule victory for the Aggies.

After a scoreless one-and-a-half innings, the Aggies erupted in the bottom of the second to take a 5-0 lead.

With the bases loaded, freshman of the week Keeli Milligan sluged one into right field for an RBI single, sending Riley Sartain across home plate. Second basemen Kaitlyn Alderink singled and advanced due to a throwing error by the Bearkats pitcher, sending Milligan, Russell and Show home. Tori Vidales approached the plate with a double to center field, sending Alderink home and extending the Aggies' lead.

The Bearkats were able to reach on a walk with one out in the top of the fourth, but were taken down by the Aggie defense in a double play by Cuyos, Alderink and Vidales .

Milligan attempted to steal but was caught, giving the Aggies their first out in the bottom of the fifth inning. A walk from Alderink, an advancement due to an illegal pitch and a ground-out from Vidales put a runner in scoring position for the Aggies. A lineout from Cali Lanphear, resulting in the breaking of her bat, ended the inning for the Ags, leaving one runner on.

Show threw a 1-2-3 inning and her third strikeout of the game left the Bearkats with no options and no runners across the plate in the top of the fifth.

In the bottom of the frame, the Aggies stole the show and cemented the run-rule of the Bearkats.

With the bases loaded and no outs, Sam Houston was forced to make a pitching change, but that didn’t keep the Aggies from loading bases again and sending two more runners across the plate to make the score 7-0.

Breanna Dozier pinch-hit for Alderink and earned the Aggies their first out of the inning, but gave Hailey Rebar — who pinch-hit for Vidales — a chance at ending the game. She singled up the middle, sending Sartain home and ending the game with an 8-0 Aggie victory.

A&M next heads to Cathedral City, Calif. for the Mary Nutter Classic where they will take on Central Michigan, UCF, UCSB, Washington, Arizona and New Mexico.

Glad to see Reagan, Breanna and Hailey get in the game. That means just Erin and Katie have not played yet. SHSU helped a lot with the walks and hit batters. Also turned out to be a great crowd with all of the HS teams in town for the tournament coming for the game. Kept the ushers busy.
