Looks like a decent slate today. Looking forward to the afternoon and evening games for sure. Hoping VCU can make things interesting against Miami and at least force a game 3.

Anyone looking for anything particular in today's games?

I think we should all be pulling for SEC teams to pack the Omaha bracket to justify more than 2 national seedings next year.

What's the record for most number of teams from one conference to make it to Omaha?

ACC got 4 in 2006

SEC got 4 in 1997

I have no problem with this, but I also would not mind it if there were upsets to allow for an easier road to a possible National Championship.

Agree. I want Maryland, Arkansas, VCU, Florida St, La-La, A&M, Illinois, & Cal St Fullerton.

I'd like the Ags vs. any of those teams. Especially on the La-La/A&M/Illionis/CS-F side of the bracket to get to the finals.

We were not in the SEC in '11.

Oops did not read "current" in your post.

Using this reasoning the selection committee was completely justified in its selection of TCU as a Natty Seed and setting up Okie State as a defacto one if they won their regional since the Big XII sent three teams to Omaha last year.

And on the flip side, the SEC only sent 2 of the 10 SEC teams that made the tournament to Omaha last year.

WOW. Nearly a 3rd of SR teams are from the SEC. I knew it was competitive this year, but seeing that... wow.

The x factor for us is Stubblefield. If he's as good against TCU as he was against Cal that really settles our entire staff and makes the pitching pretty close to a wash. If that's true then we're a better team because we are much better hitting team than they are. My guess is we'll come out looking to attack the fastball and see if we can't make the pitchers uncomfortable early.

What in the hell is wrong with the VCU pitcher's front leg when in the stretch? Seems like that is very close to a balk.

For our pitching staff, definitely. But I'm not as concerned about that matchup(Ag pitching vs. tcu hitting). I'm way more concerned about our defense behind the pitching staff, and production from the 1 and 2 hole of Allemand and Birk.

Actually, I'd say this entire series comes down to Allemand and Birk both offensively and defensively. Ags have GOT to be sound up the middle defensively, and we can't afford to have another weekend like last weekend from the 1 and 2 holes, especially in the big games. Birk did fine, but that was often after Allemand had gotten out. Weren't able to utilize the 1 and 2 holes well last week offensively. It leads to runs and Ags need to put up runs this weekend. It's our biggest advantage, and we need to make sure we get em.

No, there has been at least one other. Cal-Berkeley vs Dallas Baptist in 2011 was a 3 seed vs 3 seed match up.

Love Miami's unis, if only because they are a mainstay in college baseball. These specific ones aren't the best, but love their white/green/orange combos they put together.

I think that's pretty spot on. The whole regional was weird in that the offense never really got going. Allemand was 1-12 on Sunday and Monday, a streak I don't think will continue. If it does we're probably in trouble. But nobody really hit particularly well last weekend and I spent most of the weekend feeling like we were pressing. Hopefully they've gotten that out of their system and can just hit.

Miami strikes first with a big 2 out 2 rbi single up the middle.

The dude has weird body motions all around. The guy will never throw anyone out at 1st with that elongated motion.

Also a guy in the stands keeps yelling, "Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap" when the VCU pitcher comes set in the stretch.

Even though it was only one run, I think getting that one back was important for VCU. I personally am rooting for all upsets this weekend except Vandy (last I saw, they were inexplicably the underdog).

Also, I really like the sleeveless jerseys over undershirts look for Miami. Hate the rear pocket and orange insert deal on the pants.
