Was just looking up his bio while watching the Astros and Rangers game and realized he was recruited and offered a scholarship by A&M to be our catcher.

I think he was offered under MJ.

Wasn't too high on him till he started getting hits/HR's recently.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think he had some substance abuse problems at the time. Went to live in the wilderness for a time then came back to baseball.
