Exactly what I thought I saw. Ball was a good three inches off the plate

Dang, same pitch. One ball, one strike.

The pitch prior was closer and had the jump questioning his zone late, imo.

Complete horse ****. But the BAS posters here will you he should have swung.

Wow...that's bad. Would have hit a lefty in the knee. Tough to say he should have fought it off because there is absolutely no way he touches that even with a foul protect the plate type swing.

It gets called a strike when the guy starts running down the first base line before the call. Umps hate this and almost always ring you up if its close.

The problem is that it wasn't close. The camera angle makes it look much closer. That pitch was 6 inches of the plate. The one before it was probably 4 and was rightly called a ball.

Hinsley isn't showing him up there

Agreed, aggregious call, hope we don't have that ump behind the plate again for the series...

I guess it's a freaking shame that a player can't show any emotion when he draws a walk to put his team ahead.

Yeah, I don't blame the kid. Just seen it too many times.

1) I seriously hope umps don't officiate with that in mind. Especially in the quarter of a second between Hinsley stepping forward and the ump going into his K motion.
2) What Fairchild said

Ump insertion into outcome. How many times have I seen that!!!

It's a conspiracy in telling you.
All umpires and referees hate A&M.
We only lose games because of bad officiating.
All conspiracies .. And everyone is in on it.
Rabble rabble rabble rabble

Oh btw, that wasn't a bad pitch. Look at where the catcher is setup.

We cant freaking escape it...

From the phantom targeting(t.u.), to no call horsecollar(Auburn), to no call offsides(swamp kittens), and now the ball 4 strikeout. What... The... F***.

I can forgive the call at third, 'coz it was so dang close. But the home plate ump simply blew the "strike" call. Dude was horrible all night long.

Your mistake is thinking that Aggies are ANY different than other fanbases in this.
We don't blame losses on the umps any more often than other fans.

Oh god.
This ain't little league buddy.

Batters are taught to drop the bat and run to 1st if they believe it's ball 4.
The other option would be to stand there basically telling the umpire you thought it was a strike as well.
Batter dropping bat and heading to 1st has absolutely zero influence either way on the call.

Now go get the vine video of the lsu batter leading off the next inning and you will see the exact same situation. A ball on the edge called a ball then the next pitch, same exact pitch called a strike. The inconsistency went both ways and yes the ump was inconsistent all night on the edges.

NCAA really should provide the officiating crews and stop tying them to conferences.

You're not wrong. Let's just hope that the officiating over the next couple of games will be a little more balanced.

2nd pitch was Lower and closer to the plate than the first. Not by much, but it was.

Now I fully expect you to all crucify me, but it's the truth. Hinsley should have been more aggressive there and not left it up to the ump.
Bunk Moreland

What'd you mean balanced? Good at some strike calls Long got early on at the ankles of batters.

Bottom line, Ags squandered tons of opportunities to win tonight. Thats it and that's all.

No he shouldnt have. It was a ball. The end. You swing at that and you guarantee crappy contact and end of inning. He made the right call and the ump blatantly blew the call.

Could we have still won the game had we taken care of business in other situations? Sure.

But we made the plays we needed to to get 4 runs. LSU made the plays they needed to to get 2 (before the bottom of the 9th.

We were robbed of a chance to win. Call it what it is.

How about if that outside third strike is called against LSU earlier in the game, they don't get their first walk and therefore their first run. How about if the correct call is made at third, they don't get that run either?

The ags squandered opportunities multiple times today, but the umps most definitely played a role in ensuring LSU won the game.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Not robbed of a chance to win. And that pitch was not so egregious that swinging would have meant some po dunk dinker to the pitcher. That pitch was primed for an opposite field single for 2 rbi. Gotta protect. Too close to put the decision in someone else's hands.
mazag08
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Wrong again. It's not too close when the precedent was set the pitch before. The umpire is supposed to at worst be consistent in his calls, not consistent in his inconsistency.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Wasn't the same pitch. 2nd pitch was Lower and closer to the plate. Even if just a bit, it was. You can see that from the Vine.
AggieBand2004
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Regardless of location, the pitch was a ball. And closer to the previous ball than to being a proper strike.
Hinsley did the correct thing and a guarantee that Childress/Bolt would say the same thing.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I pretty much agree. I know it was a ball. I still think he has to foul that off or put it in play, but whatever.

Honestly the K by Melton in the 8th upsets me most. That pitcher was there for the taking and he swung at a crap pitch.
