Just from past history, I would expect RC to not make any changes. Jester, Mengden, Long. Besides Schlottman, I cannot think of anyone else to give a start to. Stubblefield seems to be getting hit hard lately
Mengden is a good pitcher and probably a great guy, and hasn't received much in the way of run support. But how many times this year have we won a game in which he pitched?

Tuesday (Texas State): Stubblefield or Schlottman depending on Stubblefield's performance this week (bad performance or long outting means Schlottman) Friday: Corey Ray (or Stubblefield if he had a really good outting this Thursday) Saturday: Long Sunday: Mengden
This approach is similar to the Jester on Friday approach. If it works, great, if not you have left your two best bullets in the Barrel to face their two lesser bullets.
Not sure who I'd pitch instead of Mengden, if I were RC. That's the conundrum. Mengden's luck could improve at any point, but might it be worth the gamble in trying someone else who's shown promise, but may not been seen as ready to start?
Was anyone else at the game Mengden pitched. He topped out at 86 in fifth and 87 in sixth. IMO something not right. If going to start Mengden better save Schlottmann to finish his game. Mengden was up to 93 in first, maybe this year better out of pen. Weekly rotation Hendrix Tuesday Long Friday Stubblefield LH Saturday Schlottman Sunday Mengden first RH out of pen.
Mengden is banged up, but is battling through it! Guy is tough as nails and has the heart of a champion. Yes he has struggled at times, but we have had our chances to win games he has pitched. The guy flat out competes on the mound and will leave it all on the field for us!!
I like what goose posted. The only difference is I might accidentally leave the sprinklers on and flood the field on Tuesday and delay that game for hopefully a couple weeks to get our arms a couple days to catch back up.
Not sure what Schlottmann has to do to earn a start.
He's been our most consistent the last 3 weeks, his 6.2 innings pitched against Kentucky was the best individual pitching performance I've seen by an Aggie this year at Olsen.
Give him a start, especially if opponent has a number of LHH in its lineup.
I agree about Schlottman, he deserves a start. I believe he may get a lot of innings this weekend.
I don't know about the comment about RCs lack of concern about pitchers health. I've always thought he was pretty good about resting when needed and not over pitching? Compared to Augie, I think they are worlds apart.
Tyler has not been sharp recently. But, I believe the plan is to sacrifice the 1st game to give us a better chance to win games 2 and 3.
Mengden has not been sharp but can't believe the bluff that Jester and Parker Ray have fallen off of this year. And Parker had a great game the time he relieved Jester in Jester's 1st start.
MINESOTAAGGIE not sure I agree with that comment. Not just this staff, but a lot of staffs across the country run guys out that have some kind of health or arm issue. If P is having issues there are too many variables to just cast that big of a net, to say a staff wont run a guy out there. I am not saying its Mengdens arm, but no way his velo should drop off like that. My weekly start list allows for a big RH freshman that looks like he fits as a future starter, Long who so far this year looks like ace of staff and two LH starters (everybody looking for LH starting P). Look at what an 83 and a 85 LH combo did to our hitters on Saturday. I'm not sure Stubbiefield is struggling more than just adjusting to pitching to SEC vs Prarie View A&M. Good thing is if he stumbles Corey Ray shut down a top 20 team on Tuesday. With two former Banditos freshman in lineup we look to be putting up more run support. Makes easier on your P to P with a lead than earlier in year when we didn't give the P staff a lot of run support. Agree that Augie is harder on his P then Rob from what little UT ball I've seen. Ok start pouring it on.
well, unless the Ags can rally vs. the bulldog pen and their All-American closer...Mengden has to get it together in game 2. Must pitch a great game or the series will be lost
I'd think Corey would be up next since he's had already had some starts. Schlottmann would probably get the next shot after that, though I'm sure they like having him as long relief out of the pen.
Tuesday games are really important and then whoever is the Tuesday pitcher will get the first start in the SEC tourney. Wouldn't mind that being Corey Ray.
