7. 11-5 curve ball lacks consistency; some have late break
8. Curve is not overly sharp; quality of the break seems to look almost lazy at times

3. Fastball explodes out of his hand; good late life
4. 11-5 breaking ball is a bit slow but features steep break and good depth that seems to creep further and further away from RH batter
5. Curve ball showing sharper, later break as the inning progresses; some two-plane break to the pitch
6. Curve is a swing and miss pitch; threw 4 consecutive that resulted in empty swings
7. Very effective as a chase pitch even if it was on the slow side
8. Around the zone and getting hitters to chase offerings out of it; was not really controlling his stuff and showed little if any command
9. Athleticism plays well; gets off the mound very quickly to field his position

1. Tall with wide shoulders; wide frame with some projection remaining
2. High 3/4 arm slot; fast arm; some noticeable effort
3. Big fastball that jumps out of his hand
4. Gets good downward plane on the fastball and features some late run
5. 11-5 curve ball with very nice shape; late break and tight spin
6. Pounds bottom of zone with fastball
7. Controlled his stuff but command was mediocre at best

Hoby Milner

Height/Weight: 6'2" / 165 lbs
Class: Junior
Draft Year: 2012

1. Tall & lanky with thin arms & very thin legs; projectable
2. Slow, fairly smooth delivery with a high leg kick; 3/4 arm slot; arm action could be smoother
3. Average fastball has some late sink and run
4. Fastball comes out of his hand well; showed more life later in the outing
5. Sharp 2-8 slider with late break; good tilt
6. Slider does not have a ton of depth; started to lose sharpness in the 4th inning
7. Changeup has good dead action with drop and some fade
8. Moving pitches around the zone but lacked the command to really pull it off
9. In the 4th inning, he was losing his release point; command non-existent at that point

Nathan Thornhill

Draft Year: 2013

1. Average height; decently well filled out, body not overly conducive to much projection; long arms
3/4 armslot; low effort delivery; arm action is a bit cut off on back side
2. Fastball features some arm side run; lacks elite velocity: 89, 89 in the first, 91 in the second; 90, 88 in the third; 87 in the fourth (via announcer)
3. Hitters put good swings on fastball for the most part
4. Changeup has steady drop and some fade; good action
5. Throws change with good arm speed; fooled a number of hitters with the pitch; swing and miss ability
6. 12-5 curve ball has decent shape; not a power pitch; tends to break a bit early
7. Threw one very sharp breaking ball to Diekroeger low and away in the 5th inning; surprisingly sharp given his previous offerings in the game
8. Stanford hitters able to recognize pitch for the most part
9. Strike thrower but mediocre at best command
10. Hung a number of breaking balls, including against the first batter he faced (Jake Stewart) that was deposited over the LCF fence

6. Controlling stuff decent; showing very little ability to command his stuff

Good data. Interesting...this morning's AAS feels that the horns still have a chance to host despite an RPI of #44 (and only 12 games left on their schedule)

Only one thing to add: Parker French has a devastating sinker, and is his out pitch. If it's on he's pretty hard to hit hard. If it's not, he's a very average pitcher.

0-9 is the stat that most worries me

the Ags have to play from ahead. Augie will bring in Knebel as early as the 6th inning (to close) if the horns have the lead

Astros- that report is from the stanford series only. he might not have used it or it might have been flat and the scout thought it was a change up or something. hopefully it does the same thing this weekend.

Augue will let Knebel go for extended innings (everyone knows this). Look at the innings/pitches he threw in the tech series. Can't remember off the top of my head but it was a bunch. I think he threw like 6-7 innings in game 2 and ended up getting the L after they took a 1 run lead in the top of the inning

I heard they were going to start Dillon Peters over Jacquez on Sunday, do we have a scouting report on him ?

I didn't see anything about peters. If I can find out anything about him I'll post it.

I did some internet research but couldn't find a scouting report on Dillon Peters but found out a few facts.

He is a pure freshman left hander from Indianapolis, Indiana. Looks like he might have started several Tuesday games and mostly relieved on weekends.

He is 3-0 with a 2.60 ERA and players are batting .184 against him. He has made 19 appearances and has started 7 games.

Looks like he doesn't give up many hits but has control problems. In 28 IP he has given up 18 hits and 15 walks. That's all I know.

Some stuff on Peters:

Ranked one spot behind fellow unsigned high school lefty Stephen Tarpley on my pre-draft list, Cathedral HS (IN) LHP Dillon Peters (Round 20) is an uncannily similar prospect. He’s a little bit more advanced than Tarpley, but offers less projection and uglier mechanics. He has the three pitches needed to start at Texas, but concerns about his size and herky jerky delivery could keep him in the bullpen, at least at the onset of his college career. Without putting undue pressure on the Longhorns coaching staff, I’d say Peters is putting some serious money on the line by gambling a) he’ll be used responsibly in college and b) he’ll find a coach who can clean up his delivery enough to make him a viable starting pitching candidate. If in three years Tarpley is a Friday night starter mowing down college competition in line for a potential top three round selection, as his raw talent suggests, then there ought to be some Longhorn Network cash headed the way of Texas pitching coach Skip Johnson.
