Don't think A&M will have much trouble in this series.
I'd like to think our pitching staff will be very good this year, but that is by Patriot League standards...not Big 12.
Our best arm was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 13th round last year (Johnny Pedrotty), and unfortunately he will not be playing for HC this year.
Our next best guy is lefty Nate Koneski. He's real crafty (aren't all lefties?) and has a mean breaking ball along with a fastball that touches 90-93. He has the ability to have some success the first time through the order, I believe, but that's about it.
The lineup will be a bit different for us this year as we graduated three of our better bats. Fortunately, our catcher (Steven Wadsworth) is just a junior and is getting some serious pro looks. He stands at about 6'3 and has a huge frame, the ball really pops off when he connects with it. I think you will be impressed with him.
Other than him, the one guy to look out for is shortstop Alex Maldanado. A real smooth fielder who is very quick on the basepaths and a solid hitter.
I couldn't tell you the rotation for this weekend, but if I had to guess it will be: Koneski (L), Croglio (R), and Kono (L)
I'd like to think we will steal one, but that simply won't be happening. These series in the early going are pretty tough as it is the first time HC will be playing in a live game outside...doesn't help much they'll face a Top 5 team.
Best of luck in the series and throughout the year...I'll check in throughout the weekend.
