What do we know about then, like how good they are, are their pitchers any good, that kind of stuff.

Should we have any trouble with them this weekend?

we're their opening series so we'll get to learn about them real quick.

Sorry I can't offer much more than that.

Holy Cross' season opener is Friday night. That gives the Ags a tremendous advantage.

The Crusaders were 24-23 last year. Went 1-7 vs. Army & Navy. Not very good

2800 students. They are the crusaders. They are from Massachusetts They are a catholic school. That's all I can add to the thread.

Holy Cross opened last year at LSU (vs. a tiger team that missed the NCAA postseason) and was whipped by a combined score of 41-10

There assistant coach Jeff Kane appears to have been on the Clemson team that the Aggies defeated in the '99 Super Regional.

RPI is 180. Should be a cake walk for us. Doesn't mean that will happen.

Don't think A&M will have much trouble in this series.

I'd like to think our pitching staff will be very good this year, but that is by Patriot League standards...not Big 12.

Our best arm was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 13th round last year (Johnny Pedrotty), and unfortunately he will not be playing for HC this year.

Our next best guy is lefty Nate Koneski. He's real crafty (aren't all lefties?) and has a mean breaking ball along with a fastball that touches 90-93. He has the ability to have some success the first time through the order, I believe, but that's about it.

The lineup will be a bit different for us this year as we graduated three of our better bats. Fortunately, our catcher (Steven Wadsworth) is just a junior and is getting some serious pro looks. He stands at about 6'3 and has a huge frame, the ball really pops off when he connects with it. I think you will be impressed with him.

Other than him, the one guy to look out for is shortstop Alex Maldanado. A real smooth fielder who is very quick on the basepaths and a solid hitter.

I couldn't tell you the rotation for this weekend, but if I had to guess it will be: Koneski (L), Croglio (R), and Kono (L)

I'd like to think we will steal one, but that simply won't be happening. These series in the early going are pretty tough as it is the first time HC will be playing in a live game outside...doesn't help much they'll face a Top 5 team.

Best of luck in the series and throughout the year...I'll check in throughout the weekend.

I didn't have the grades to get into Notre Dame, and was to small to get a scholarship. So I went to Holy Cross junior college for a couple of years to get my grades up. They wouldn't let me paint Notre Dame helmets, though. Anyway, through hard work, determination, and a little help from a tutor who I set up with a chick wearing coke bottle glasses, I was finally accepted into Notre Dame, where I walked on in football. I was pretty much a badass on the practice squad. They loved me because I made them look bad.

HC11, welcome to the board and thank you for the insightful, educated discussion. A&M baseball has a legendary status as one of the best atmospheres in any college sport. Mainly for the quality of the heckling. Holy Cross players are going to get ribbed pretty good this weekend. It is what we do. Understand that it is good natured and that once the 25.5 innings are over, it is over.

Welcome, HC11

You're right about the first 2 guys in the rotation. For Ags, these guys had ERAs in high 6s last year. Nate Walker is the Sunday starter. His ERA was notably better last year (mid 4s), but he only had 1 start.

HC hit .288 as a team, but if they lost 3 good bats; they're kinda starting over.

Nice story, but this isn't the Holy Cross in Indiana, it's the one in 'Wistah', Massachusetts...

Although Koneski had an up and down season last year, I think he will really challenge A&M.

In the prestigious Cape Cod League last summer, he tossed 26.1 innings, had 24 strikeouts, and a 1.03 ERA. He was named the league's New England Player of the Year which is awarded to the top prospect in New England.

Here's hoping he can have some magic tonight.

Last year Holy Cross was 24-23-1. So . . . . . . based on their last years record, the Aggies should be able to handle them.

Go Aggies!! Keep the Winning Streak going against Holy Cross!
