New CBA Draft Rules stemming from the Dback 2010 Draft of Loux

Part of the agreement between the MLB & Barret Loux for his Free Agency, was that the new CBA would include new draft rules so that this situation would never happen to another player. Their attorney was very involved in the resulting new language to be included in the 2012 CBA. While this rule has a number associated with it within the CBA, it has unofficially become known at "The Barret Loux Draft Rule" by those involved. What BBA doesn't say in their article is that if a team doesn't offer at least 40% of slot value, then if they have a supplemental or compensation pick for that player, then they loose it in the next draft. Thus, the Diamondbacks would have gotten nothing if this rule had been in effect when they drafted Barret.

Good to hear something good came out of all of this. How did he finish up with Ranger A ball? Hoping to catch him in Frisco next season.

it is kinda cool that it is named after him but still stinks that he had to go through all that.

Seriously glad something got done about that. Feel completely horrible about that whole situation. The guy got screwed over by an entire organization.. I hope he has a long successful career and makes millions in the bigs.. Getting shafted out of the signing bonus, and contract, he deserved cost him easily around $2 mil... Shady *******s.. I'll never root for the Dbacks to ever win another game.

Luox actually finished the season a little early due to some arm fatigue but he definitely worked his way into the top-10 rangers pitching prospects. I watched updates on the farm system very closely to see his name and he always seemed to go 7 and give up 2-3 runs. Talks are that he will either start in High-A again or move on to AA next year.
