Well, we knew it would take a long time for the NCAA to review ASU's appeal, but they did it and are banning the Sun Devils from 2012 playoff consideration.

I've often had a certain amount of appreciation for ASU's clubs but I could never, ever stand Pat Murphy so Im glad to see the team get their final sentence and finally move on from that era of stench.

Hmmm...this year's team had nothing to do with Murphy's problems. It's the Program that gets the punishment and unfortunately so does the present team. Just not sure why you are glad that the team got punished.

Im not glad they got punished, Im just (a little) glad that they can put Murphy completely behind them now. And I do agree with you, the team that's out there for 2012 will serve the punishment for a group that is no longer there. Its completely unfair, but also a widespread common throughout the NCAA.

Among other things, "Murphy also was ruled to have paid 20 baseball players more than $5,800 from his own nonprofit organization for work they did not perform."

Since I don't like programs trying to get away with crap like this, yes, I am glad they got caught and punished. Regardless of who's watch it was on, it was the school that reaped the benefits.

Now, if you want to complain about the NCAA looking the other way at Ohio State and Auburn football, and giving Alabama and OU slaps on the wrist, then yes, I agree with that. But a school getting caught and punished for cheating is a good thing.

they were supposed to sit last postseason but the appeal delayed it

Sucks for the kids. Probably hard to get excited about the games when you know there's no ultimate goal.

I don't feel any sympathy towards the current players. It was the winning history and tradition that attracted them to ASU in the first place. And as it turns out that "winning history" was illegally/corruptly obtained

by the way, Baseball America says Arizona State had the #1 signing class from the early signing period. Again that's why you shelve the sympathy for the ASU baseball program
