I went to elementary-high school with Cliff Pennington, and I'm going to be in the Bay area in a few weeks. I was thinking of catching an A's game July 15th. I'd like to let Cliff know to at least say hey before the game or something. It isn't very often somebody that you went to school with makes it to the show. Anybody know how I could get in contact with him?

I had a buddy that was pitching for the Nationals a few years ago. my brother and I went up to catch a game and wanted to get in touch with him like you are doing here. I think we sent a message through the email on their web page.

Nowadays, I think I would look to see if he has a facebook page or linked in or something. We got lucky and he responded to us and we were able to hook up at the game. Hadn't seen him in like 10 years and it was pretty cool chatting with him. You get a lot of looks when a player comes over just to shoot the sheet with you before the game.

He has taken his facebook page down apparently. I'd imagine it is encouraged for pro athletes to not have facebook pages since they are such public figures.

Contact the team's media director (email or phone call). Tell him who you are and why you want to contact him.

He will pass the info to Cliff and perhaps he will contact you.

Pre-game is tough. I had a friend who played for the Padres. Met him after the game at the players exit and had a good visit.

Baseball players work strange hours. Some come in real early (sometimes noon or shortly thereafter) and are real busy. Best time to visit is after the game.

Just wait until the game starts and he's at his position. Just hop the fence and run to him. He'll give you his undivided attention.

I contacted the A's organization. We'll see what they say. If not, I can get in touch with some other people on facebook that I'm pretty sure still talk to him.
