For those of us with a ranching/cowboy heritage, tu really is embarrassing as a "representative" of what the state is all about. I just cringe when I see their band uniforms with all that ridiculous fringe or the white hats(what self-respecting cowboy wears a WHITE hat?!!)with horrible creases.

From what I was told (brother went there), they are a service organization (Silver Spurs) and thats what they wear to sporting events. They also have the Texas Cowboys (similar organization) who wear the black hats and chaps.

Someone didn't learn the difference between a jump suit and pants/shirt in their senior fashion design class...

As a kid that grew up in the country and got an Ag degree from A&M, that false portrayal they put on has always bothered me about the sips.

They claim that they are Texas, when they are probably the most liberal bunch in this state.

And I would say the number of undergrads who live on a ranch or farm at either school is significantly lower than all of you think. Nothing but kids from Houston and Dallas at both universities. I believe Tech should/would have the biggest complaint about this non-issue.

Given that the state is 88% urban, I would have a hard time saying that ranching is what Texas is all about.

8T2 agriculture is a huge industry in Texas and more than just the folks on farms and ranches are involved. A lot of urbanites are involved as well. Enough of that. Texas sucks and their fans look silly pretending to look like cowboys. They should call their little club the Broke Back Texans.

Was watching the tu vs NC game this afternoon and saw two of them sitting with all the sips. They had on "felt" hats. Any self-respecting cowboy knows that we are in "straw" season. They couldn't even get that right. That is just embarrassing.

That was just a bit of humor to be fair. I went to the game in Austin this year with my brother (he attends t.u.) and he explained to me that that guy has memorized the entire halftime show the dance team does. He said that he performs the routine in the stands every game while the dance team does it on the field, but for that night, they let him come down on the field and show it off. We have a guy that does the exact same thing every game at Reed and everyone seems to laugh. A bit of harmless humor.
