You guys did an excellen job of being clutch with the bats and I was very impressed with Stripling. His offspeed is nasty. He seemed to get into trouble and then get out of it, which is what great pitchers do. What did you guys think of Gilmartin? Dick Howser Stadium? Atmosphere? Or just our team in general? Any way great job today and good luck tomorrow (or not...)

Gilmartin was nasty through half of the game, it just seemed like we figure him out after that.

Your fans are great from what I've seen. Any fans that are that involved in a game (no matter how lame the songs are) are great in my book.

Everything I have seen shows FSU as a quality place to host post season games, I'm just glad this one didn't work out for you.

One of the best games Ive been too. Dick Howser Stadium (and the campus in general) is awesome! Gilmartin has GREAT stuff and his slide piece is dirty. FSU fans were great other than "K time, K time, K time."

Been here less than 24 hours and so glad I made the trip. Let's finish it tomorrow AGS!!!

Gilmartin is definitely a first rounder. He has a sick changeup. He is an extremely good pitcher.

Atmosphere seemed very good. Fans were loud and funny. The only problem is that a lot of fans were crying after every strike called against fsu, and every ball called for A&M. Even on pitches that were clearly called correctly. (but that happens almost everywhere and you guys definitely weren't as bad as Austin)

The field seems small. All and all I would love to attend a game there as it seems like a great time.

Your team is very good. I don't see any blowouts happening in this series.

Fans and atmosphere definitely sounded above average. I wish I was there to give a better opinion on the atmosphere. I'm just going off tv.

Its funny, I always thought everyone liked the "K-Time" chant. Speaking strictly of fans who are not rivals or ACC teams and fans I have spoken with through the years at Howser, fans of Stanford, Arizona State, Alabama, ND, Texas (ha), Auburn, Georgia etc have always liked it. Always interesting to see others impressions. I can see how it would be annoying as an opposing team however. Also, not sure if you all picked it up but they we yell "hot dog" when our pitchers get 7 k's and are about to get their 8th. 8 k's and fans get a free hot dog (not during post season

I heard that the FSU crowd cheered when the Florida loss was announced. We can certainly appreciate a good cheer at your rival's expense.

I thought that it was a very attractive stadium. However, the seats are no wider than the ones that we just ripped out of Olsen, and the row in front of me was closer than at Olsen. It wasn't terribly hot but was very humid and the close quarters made it very stuffy/uncomfortable. I've been drinking water since I got back to the hotel.

The people around me (in section 9) were very nice. I didn't see any students. Not a single one. They seemed to mostly be 60+ years of age in 9.

The crowd was loud. Louder than any Big 12 stadium other than Olsen. There were a group (the oft-written "Section B" that led *everything*. The other 5,000 fans just followed them. Where do the students sit at FSU?!?

It reminded me of what was happening in the 2nd deck when I left (after 2002) and why I left. The 103/104 crowd at Olsen is much smaller (only 8 rows in the first deck) but, I think, much more clever.

Again, everyone I met was very nice. I was concerned about that after a terrible 1995 experience at Coral Gables.

Gilmartin had us badly off balance most of the night. You guys who watched it on TV could tell that better than I could. I'm just glad that we were able to get him out of the game.

Our guys are playing with one gigantic chip on their shoulders. I love this team! Let's end this super tomorrow!

Stadium was awesome. Fans around us were involved with the usual umpire chatter. They didn't really start talking to us until we took the big lead... Then they were real nice. S

Most annoying thing to me was the slow clap. If you're doing it for every pitch it kinda loses the effect.

One last thought. The ball really carries in that place. It was not at all windy today, but that Juengel Bomb was a cheapy. They hit one to deep CF in the 9th that also didn't look (to me) to be hit all that hard. I know that the dimensions are generally smaller than Olsen, but the ball did seem to carry a lot.

-------------------
Dimensions: 320' right - 400' center - 340' left
Alleys: 365-LC; 360-RC
Height of Wall: 10'
Height of Right Field Screen: 30'

One more thing...

Whoever hit the homerun for your team needs to be beaned in the face. Show some sportsmanship and run the freaking bases instead of stopping on your way to first and admiring your hit.

Totally made him self look like a dbag.

Wasn't he watching to see if it stayed fair?? I was watching on the computer in the pool at that point so couldn't see it that well. But if he stopped to see if it was staying fair then I have no problem with that.

Boyd definitely needs to pay for admiring his bomb. Fair or foul, he started his trot and stopped to watch it....he needs to pay.

It sure didn't look like he was just checking. His body language said, "look at that!" to me.

I watched on TV, here are my observations on some of the questions. Regarding the admiration of the home run, I thought he was just watching it to make sure it stayed fair. Looked like he started to trot thinking it was good off the bat and then slowed up as it hooked to body english it fair. I had no problem with this.

I thought Gilmartin was fantastic. He located everything beautifully. We've had some rough games offensively where I think we took ourselves out of our game. This wasn't one of those. We were struggling because Gilmartin has big league command of three pitches. It thought it was just a great baseball game. We hung in there and then got fortunate in that 7th inning. The House base hit that snuck through the infield was huge. After that, I think Gilmartin's command suffered a little bit probably due to fatigue taking the edge of his sharpness. Wood and Jackson got a couple of the few really hittable pitches that Gilmartin threw all game (Juengel got another).

It was just a great all-around game.

Beaned in the face ? So you retaliate against bad sportsmanship by one upping on the bad sportsmanship ?

I don't care how big a ****** somebody is, saying they should be beaned in the face is not appropriate. A ball in the ribs sends the right message. Beaning in the face can do serious permanent damage.

Just my opinion. Maybe nobody else agrees.

We had a great time.

I really liked how nice all the FSU fans were to my son. They just never minded his singing and one even gave him candy as a treat. I really like the people we met today and it was a nice stadium.

I hope we win tomorrow so we don't have to go on Monday. But it was a great atmosphere and you have great fans.

I hope so. I give you the benefit of the doubt that you are to young to know who Dick Howser was.

I actually completely agree with you. And I wouldn't even throw it at his ribs. I wouldn't ever throw at anyone no matter how much of a dbag they were.

I wasn't meaning it literally. I shouldn't have typed what I did.

The stadium looked great on tv. Great crowd. Gilmartin dominated and then fell apart, amazing how fast things can go from great to suck.

Whats up with the Canada song?

AgE2theBONE
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Explanation of O Canada from a Noles fan:

"It's just a tradition though, here's the story. Back in '88, the Calgary Olympics opening ceremonies took place on the same day as an FSU-Grambling baseball game. Going into the bottom of the 5th inning, with the score tied 2-2, a fan began humming O Canada. A rally began, and others joined in. Fans didn't stop humming it until the inning was over and FSU had scored 8 runs (final score was 16-3). And the tradition was born. The Animals added the Canadian flag in 1991. When Army visited a couple years ago, the Animals made it a point to contact the head coach before they came down to make him aware of it, so they didn't think we were a bunch of commies or something, ha. Anyway, thought you should know, so you're not one of the people who think we're a bunch of weirdos."

As soon as we had somebody on base and Gilmartin had to pitch from the stretch it was over. Apparelty Gilmartin is not as effective from the stretch.

It took us long enough to get someone on base though! Finally the bats came through.

I don't know what was up with the fielding, though. Naquin doesn't wrap up a fly ball, KJ can't pick up a soft grounder and Charlie Curl was going in the wrong direction trying to field a one hop grounder. I thought he was put in for defensive purposes? All added to the pitcher's pitch count.

Stripling was awesome as usual.

All in all it was a great win.

Time to deliver the knockout punch today!

Yeah, the look on his face said that he figured his bomb won the game (I thought so too at the time). I would imagine he'll get beaned at some point if there's a convenient moment for it.

For those asking about student involvement, its hard this time of year since it is summer. Most are not in town and therefore can't come to the game.

From the living room...

Boyd definitely pimped his homer. I dusting off wouldn't be out of line.

I wasn't sure what all the singing was about, but like said before any ballpark that makes that much noise is better than 90% of stadiums.

Agree on the short looking porch in right. The ball just seemed to fly yesterday.

It reminded me of old Olsen a little with the large bleachers down the line and the battling cage too.
