Didn't get to see it but Dave made it sound like a sure fire ESPN Top 10 play. Anyone know where I can see a video of it? Krey Bratsen robbed it right?

Damn nice catch but I'd have to see it again to confirm it was going out. Either way it was very close and a heck of catch.

It wasn't going over the fence. It definitely saved extra bases and momentum, though.

It would not have been a home run. In my opinion Bratsen made it look like a tougher catch than it had to be. He probably had about 4 or 5 feet of room between him and the wall and just jumped strait up and caught it. He could have just gone a step back and made an easy play. Luckily it was to dead center. Deepest part of the park.

This, it was a quality catch for sure, but not like Brandon Wood's catch against OK State earlier in the season.

No way was it going out... in fact had he played it correctly he doesn't need to jump. Had he done has he has been taught since little league... run hard to the fence first.
He could have camped under the ball and made an easy catch. He kind of drifted slowly back until he decided to jump.

Wasnt even close to going out. I heard him laughing about it after the game. He and Naquin were getting ribbed pretty good. Krey said he didnt need to jump but didnt realize it until after he made the catch.

The deep fly ball in the 9th? Dave called that robbing a home run? He always struck me as the kind of guy who was likely a teetotaler, but apparently he took peyote at some point today if he thought that was a home run ball.

It wasn't going to be a HOUR, but it wasn't even close to being "4 or 5 feet" away from the wall. It would have been a double off the wall.

Give him a break. Sometimes it's hard to know how far away from the wall you are in an unfamiliar park.

I said Bratsen was "4 or 5 feet" away from the wall. He was reaching up to catch it plus the jump so there is no doubt that it was going to hit the wall. It just should have been an easier catch than he made it seem.

It's Dave. My only surprise is that he didn't say we robbed them of a 3 pointer.

I am glad he caught it. But I sure wish our outfielders would catch the ball using both hands. Dropped fly balls should never ever happen, but especially not in games where your season is on the line.

No way that he played this incorrectly. I don't think there was a need to run hard to the fence. It was drifting and he drifted with it. Like most, what I saw on TV, I don't think it was going out but just because the jump was a little awkward is not a misplay.

So you're agreeing that he played it incorrectly? Every coach beyond little league teaches outfielders not to drift on fly balls.

Bottom line he made the catch and helped us win the game, so playing it incorrectly didnt hurt anything.

On a perfect day with no wind there would be no drifting. I understand the "run to the point then find the ball theory" but with the area a CF has to cover I think it was very well played. I just think its a little harsh to say it was played incorrectly, especially for a ball that was caught in a foreign ballpark.

You mean like yesterday at Dick Howser?

I was sitting in the section in front of Dave at the stadium yesterday and from Daves vantage point it looked like the ball was gone.

The wind was blowing Straight out at that point. that's why the ball carried that far. The flags at the top of the stadium were blowing to either straight out to center or right to left the entire game.
