Coming in late here. Picked up on this thread in the 8th. How many total hits by each team?
As the home team, you normally bring in your closer in the 9th or 10th. The reason being that your closer can not close out an extra inning game as the home team. Its impossible. So you use him early or resign not to use him at all.
that is how it is scored
1 = picher
2 = catcher
3 = first
4= 2nd base
5= 3rd base
6= short
etc. so 6-3 means shortstop threw to first for a put out.

I suggest you follow baseball a little longer before you attack the decisions a coach makes. If anything, I would have argued for bringing the closer in earlier. This early in the season I don't like seeing our starter stretched 9 innings.
if stripling is the only pitcher we have that can keep gonzaga or any other team scoreless in an inning or two, then we are in for a long season.

Oasis, it's the position numbers that made the out. 1-3 means the pitcher threw to first for the out.
Pitcher is 1, catch 2, 1B is 3,...RF is 9

Oasis, this your first time to watch baseball? When keeping score the positions are in numerical order. Maybe this is not the time to explain, maybe later.

In this series, this is the only game we expect to be close. What you are advocating is not using our best reliever -- anytime the home team goes to extra innings, there is not going to be a chance for a "save". Do you realize how dumb this is in this specific situation?
