I saw that R7....very funny.

Smith tagged the base and went to make the transfer for the throw to first and dropped the ball, blue signaled safe, Childress came out and argued, umps confrenced, call was overturned, SFA coach came out and got into third base ump's face, looked like he was trying to climb up him, did some chest thumps, got tossed, tossed his hat towards blue, stormed off the field, threw an empty bucket on the field and then a bucket full of balls.

Blue called the baserunner out first then reversed the call on the field after Greene dropped the ball; that's why RC went out there.

SFA had a runner on first, one out. Batter bunts and pitcher fields the ball and throws to second. I forget who was covering but they caught the ball, and as he transferred the ball to throw to first he dropped it. Ump calls runner safe.

Childress is out of the dugout to appeal, and the home plate umpire agrees with Childress and the runner is called out.

The SFA coach sprints out of their dugout George Brett style and gives the ump an absolute red faced earful. It goes on for a bit, and he's trying his hardest to get tossed. Eventually does get the boot, and as he goes back to the dugout he throws his hat toward second base.

Once he's IN the dugout you see an empty bucket thrown onto the field, and then a FULL bucket of balls.

It was a hell of scene!

Just got back from the game. I thought Childress might get ejected cause he was pretty hostile out there. Their coach's asschewing didn't last 30 seconds cause he was going crazy.

The only funnier one I have ever seen was back in the old SWC days. I think it was Wayne Graham being tossed by the home plate ump. He dropped to his knees and piled a mound of dirt on home plate at least 6 inches high.

This was almost as much fun!

One of those Olsen moments you won't ever forget. Liked how he stared down our dugout and kicked the first-base line chalk. Then the water cooler followed by the 5gal bucket of baseballs. Worth the admission price for sure.

Got his monies worth also.

The tossing of the bucket o balls was definitely the highlight. It needs to make sportcenter or something. KBTX, at LEAST.

I remember that. Tom Jenkins was the homeplate umpire. Graham had come out to yell at the third base umpire. He walked by Jenkins and gave him some lip and Jenkins threw him. He went over yelled at Jenkins then buried homeplate. The crowd went crazy. It was awesom.

A&M's sports information director should be sending the tape to Sportscenter right now for some free exposure

yeah I doubt KBTX will have anything..they leave like in the 2nd inning
love their highlights though..they show like 3 plays over and over during the talking...
it would be like "and the Ags score three in the bottom of the ninth to win a wild one' but the highlights are like people going thru the turnstiles,..pitcher throwing a pitch, first run of the game crossing home plate for whatever team, outfielder catching a ball and then the same pitch that the highlight reel led off with

That was so bizarre. The strike zone had been pretty consistent all night, basically a pitchers' duel, and SFA hadn't been getting screwed on calls all night or anything...

....then on the transfer call, it was the most obvious call in the world to overturn. They got it right, no questions about it. I don't even see how you could think "well maybe coach saw it a different way". He WAS out.

If he was trying to get his team fired up, I think getting thrown out the normal way would have sufficed. He looked like a complete child from the toddler-looking off balance arm waving run onto the field, baby armed throw of the hat at the ump, weak attempt to smear the chalk, and all the way to the finale of throwing the bucket of putt putt batting cage balls onto the field.

What a buffoon.

Yeah, this deal went waaay beyond Wayne's sandbox antics.

But Wayne pulled it off with grace and style!

This guy was a complete moron.

I can promise you Wayne can still laugh about covering home! This guy will be embarassed about this anytime it is brought up.

He had a legitimate gripe... Yea i think they got the call right, but just the way it went down. Bottom line one coach was going to get ejected on that play. If it goes SFA's way Childress is gone. It was a crucial call in a great game. Just glad it went our way.

Hopefully his TCU brethren are more fortunate when they come to town in April.

Do you remember the seinfeld episode where George wants to be called T-Bone, then looks like a monkey yelling at the guy that DID get the T-Bone nickname... well, yeah, that is what the SFA coach looked like with some very disturbing hip thrust inward towards the ump... the SFA coaches nickname should be COCO THE MONKEY. Funny ****e!

Yep! We'll be calling their Manager KOKO tomorrow afternoon. I hope they bring plenty of buckets.

BTW I got to hear him talk after the game, and everything he did, he did for his team. He was fired up and was obviously passionate about the game.

I get that he did it "for the team", and from the reactions and effort the SFA guys gave the rest of the game, I guess I'd have to give him credit for it working.

However, it was really overdone and....random.

This makes me mad to no end. Not just KBTX. It's just photo/camera media in general. I can remember our home newspaper would have a photog or the tv station would have a camera at the game and all the high lights would be from the first half of the game. Then when our team would come back they would have no footage because the guy left. I can understand if you only have one camera guy and he has other places to go but its ridiculous when you have a whole staff and you think you've seen it all after five freaking innings.

I agree, stros. It also drives me crazy that we have a top 10 team, yet our local paper prints the press release from the SID when we play out of town. How could they not afford to send a reporter to Houston to cover games? It wouldn't be more than $25 in gas. The host team always feeds the media. I don't get it.

Id be more than happy to cover the games for free.

Even those of us watching online didn't see most of it. After he got tossed, the camera man pointed the camera at the crowd. And I heard the announcers go, "Oh! Oh! He's tossing a bucket on the field!" Still, the camera was pointed at the crowd. "Now he's tossed a bucket full of balls!" Still staring at the fans. -.-;; But it was exciting.
