OK, call me cheap, but I refuse to drop $2.95/month just so I can chat at the TexAgs Chatroom. Moderators, if you're paying attention, is there another application you guys can use? Or are ya'll just part of a larger conspiracy?
it's the ole BOHICA treatment (bend over here it comes again)
Everyone wants a cut. We could all get signed up in yahoo, make our own room and not only have live chat, but voice (and video-yikes) chat. Big XII room works ok though. No baseball today.....it's a tragedy.
This is not a matter of TexAgs charging us. The company that they were using to host the chat is now charging. So if you have a problem, talk to them. I am sure that they are doing all they can to bring in another chat service. Cut them some slack
Web based chat leaves a lot to be desired. The only way to chat is via the IRC after you've downloaded a free chat client like mIRC. It's like night and day.
The only reason I haven't either suggested forming a channel like #agfootball for live chats on game days or forming a channel myself and posting it on this board is because I'm loyal to texags.com
BVI- I know full well this isn't a TexAgs.com conspiracy, please note the the smiley face in my original post. I know the difference between TexAgs.com and Multicity.com.
The question is, is TexAgs.com going to do anything about it? I for one sure hope so.
I have my own issues with IRC chat, since it's the easiest way to send a trojan to a participant in that method of chat.
[sarcasm] Somebody actually expects to get PAID for their internet content?[/sarcasm]
I always laugh when people act like somebody is committing bloody murder by expecting them to pay for a service that they use. If you think the internet was ever free you have your head further up your @$$ than the venture capitalists who have been paying for you to surf over the past few years. Advertising don’t cut it on the internet any more (especially chat rooms). The truth is, advertising never really did cut it on the net and that‘s why the “The internet should be free!!!“ whackos went broke.
This is still the beginning of the movement to pay-for-content and we’re either going to have to pay for the services that we use or watch them go away.
The DCC and file transfer default settings for most, if not all IRC chat clients require you to approve any DCC or transfer. If you have your "gets" set to "auto" you're asking for trouble.
Therefore I've never had any problem with unwanted files, like trojans, getting into my system.
Of course, if that (purported) willowy blonde out there wants to send you a pic of her in the shower, it's the risk you take.
