I'm wargaming a scenario where we get FOUR SEC teams in the playoffs next year.

First, everyone else has to be lousy. This can happen. Pretend you have two-loss champions in the rest of the Power Five and ND. This has yet to happen, but it is not beyond reality.

Now, atop that, posit the following scenario:
  • A&M goes 11-1, beating Georgia (and Clemson) along the way but losing to Bama,
  • Bama runs the West at 12-0 BUT
  • Georgia wins the East at 11-1 and then wins the SECCG, finishing 12-1.

Now, would there be anyone in the East who could be 11-1 behind Georgia, without having to face Bama or A&M, whose SOS could be considered in letting them slide in at the 4-spot?

If we're talking straight SOS, the I'd say South Carolina has the toughest in the SEC East.
