VT Alumni posted an open letter calling for Frank Beamer to step down. Included was a line suggesting that Beamer exercised a one vote veto to prevent discussions with the SEC....

"There are rumors in the wind about single vetoes of moves to the SEC. Well, a truly winning coach is going to leap at the chance to make the move to that conference; but not a marginal coach with his personal ego substituting for long term program goals."

Hmm.....

I've not done - and wouldn't know how to get the info - any research on whether or not NC State and/or VTech would bring more $$ per school to the SEC, but common sense says yes, because the populations of each of those states is significantly greater than the SEC's current average.

The answer is yes. They would bring additional states into the conference for in-state rates for the SEC Network.

Yes, but my point is that adding New Mexico or Alaska would mean less $$ for each member institution. Adding Texas, California or Florida is a big boon and would make more $$ for everybody.

Sounds like bs that would be made up and confirmed on the internet.

VTech has the fan base and TV draw to make the addition worthwhile

If VPI joined the SEC I hope they would be our permanent cross conference rival.
