Building a tailgate playlist for this season - never really done this before - and despite my Aggieness I'm not a big country music fan. I'm aware of it and can appreciate it in context....but don't choose to listen to it most of the time.

But country and southern rock are the most appropos for tailgate I think. We have a big crew (6 tents, 40-50 people) with mostly suburban types and 15-20 are current students/friends.

Here are some I've come up with....taking recommendations. I want about 3-4 hours worth so very little repeats unless it's a night game and we go from noon in which case no one will remember the second time it plays.

Probably will remove some of the ones where I have too many from a few artisists (Chesney, Paisley) in exchange for good recommendations.

Again country is not my thing. Be kind. I could go more rock oriented for sure thats more my wheelhouse but I prefer to play to the audience - but I ain't playing hip hop or rap. My era is 80's by the way.

i guess it depends on what you want

A few country artist suggestions:

Eric Church
Toby Keith
Jemey Johnson
Little Big Town
Billy Currington

Lots of Country Oldies could be good too.

Some rock artist suggestions:
Eagles
Eric Clapton
ZZ Top
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Guns N Roses

Other good standby rock artists
Aerosmith
AC/DC
Van Halen
Fleetwood Mac
Bob Seger
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Beatles
Rolling Stones
Queen

Also add some good pop from the 60's, 70's, and 80's helps make a good mix IMO

Haha, guess it also depends on the age of your audience.

There's about a dozen Cory Morrow songs that should be on there, preferably instead of Paisley, Chesney, and definitely schlubs like FL/GA Line.

Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keen, Randy Rogers Band...

Play whatever you want, and if country isn't your thing, then don't add it. But lord, the Skynyrd, 38 Special, Fl Ga Line, Kid Rock. Ugh.

Take Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney off of there and you're off to a good start.
